When I write a story, what do readers immediately look for?



If you could ask any of three of my characters (from fanfic or original) any three questions, what would you ask them?

Wonderlife is a new original fic that I've been working on for over two years. I think of the story as a human drama filled with romance and some comedy. It's the story of people; a family that is formed by people whom society doesn't want. They are con artist/gamblers/etc, who are just looking for a moment of wonder in a life that is filled with anything but.


Geum Chan-wook is a middle-aged gambler, who has "adopted" seven people throughout the last twenty-two years. The stories tell of the complicated relationships within (and outside) their family, as well as the daily issues they face while trying to stay under the radar. The stories I have written so far explore the past, present, and future of this family. The stories are sometimes dark, sometimes fluffy, but always character driven.


The story is being written for the fabulous journal, runaway_tales . Sadly, you can only read the stories at the journal - because I have only posted two or three on this journal - but joining is free and is worth it.

Author's Note: This is my first piece with Taka. Taka was interesting and even a little sad to write. If Ling'er needs looking after, Taka needs a doctor. It's possible she has some form of autism, but Chan-wook isn't exactly the time that takes people to the doctor.

The story tells of a con artist/gambler who, over the last twenty-two years, has 'adopted' seven children/teenagers. The stories, set in the modern world, tell of the complicated relationships within the "family", as well as the issues that are dealt with daily by people that don't really fit in anywhere.



The stories I write will explore the past, and the present. There is a present 'plot' that will be dealt with, but I also want to explore the past. These stories will be heavily character driven. I must warn you now, I am known for my love of twists, angst, and sometimes the overload of fluff.
