walkwithheroes: [The Princess Bride] ([Harry Potter]Silver Trio)
I finally went to see the very last Harry Potter film. The end of an era; and for many, the end of childhood. I have read all the novels and seen all the books. I've grown into adulthood with these characters. And, you know, I think I enjoy the films better than the books. I think it is because the films focus on only the important stuff - no subplots that are only for one book - and have had strong directors and crews behind them. So. . .what did I think of the last film and indeed the films overall?

I loved this film. I adored all the novels and films. I'm sad to see it end. But, I am glad that, in the end, Neville got to be the badass we all knew he could be. . .

And that everyone lived happily ever after.

I finished Deathly Hallows on Tuesday night. I had started in Sunday afternoon and read a bit everyday, because I have things to do and can't sit around for six hours reading Harry Potter. It was an emotional rollarcoster of a book, but overall it was a nice ending to the series.

I've always said that J.K. Rowling is a good children/young adult writer, but I'm not sure if she could write more "mature" fiction. I think it is because I often find more of her romantic scenes flat and a little over the top. [Side note: that's why I love HBP- Harry's love/teenage lust for Ginny makes me giggle.] However, she did well with the action (and there was a lot of action) scenes. J.K.'s also rather good with the emotion-filled moments. Looking back, J.K.'s really matured as a writer and her characters are very real.

After ten years (long years), I picked up the last Harry Potter book late this afternoon. I haven't read it, but I know it's supposed to be very good.

I also know this:

If anyone - anyone - spoilers the end for me...I'll kill 'em. Oh, I'll kill 'em dead. (Check out the icon.)

So, enjoy the book. BUT, don't tell me the ending...please!
