Because I couple of people on my flist are wondering what asian drama to watch next, I thought I'd throw in my two cents.

Firstly, I’d like to start with dramas and films from Taiwan and Mainland China. I will be honest and say I haven’t watched many. Mostly because Taiwan dramas tend to be idol dramas – full of clichés and singers (some of which can’t act.) And mainland China loves its wuxia dramas – those always seem to have the same main character, a guy that starts off as an idiot, but becomes a hero. However, there were some dramas and films that I watched, loved, and just have to rec.

Oh, and I'd love some recs back. Especially of the wuxia and romance kind. And yes, I have seen Romantic Princess, Why Why Love and both It Started With a Kiss series. And no, I don't want to see Love Contract.

Now that Japan’s summer season is coming to an end and Japan, Korea, and America’s fall season is starting, I thought I’d write a few reviews on what I watched (and liked) and what I’m looking forward to. Because I’m pretending I have that kind of time.

WARNING: SPOILERS!

Here is Part One: my review of the Japanese summer dramas I watched. )

I am in love with this series. Hong Gil Dong,. . . it’s turning into a little bit of everything - laugh out loud funny one moment, heartbreaking the next.

The writing is solid and the actors fit their roles perfectly. Several of them have really grown in just eight episodes. There’s also some wonderful chemistry between the actors, which is always a good thing. Something else I’ve noticed: all four leads have had very lonely lives, haven’t they?

If I may, I’d like to share my thoughts on some of the characters and relationships.

Heroes was awesome tonight. It didn't even feel like a hour. Some thoughts behind the cut:

walkwithheroes: [The Princess Bride] ([Lost] Dude...)
Just some thoughts on the wonderfully bittersweet episode of Lost that aired on March 14.

Further Instructions aired today, it's the third episode of the the third season of Lost. I can honestly say that Lost is better than it was last season, but still not as great as it was in season one.

Tonight's episode seemed to be long, but nothing much seemed to happen. I think it is pretty clear that several scenes were cut for time, and that made the episode suffer in some places. For example, some beach scenes were cut, and a whole 'B' plot line was taken out! Uncool editors, uncool.

Anyway, here's my thoughts of the episode:

Invasion Review for 1.22, ‘The Last Wake Good-Bye’ aka ‘This is the End’ aka ’It’s About Family’ aka ‘Holy Cliffhanger!’ aka ‘Darn you, ABC!’

As I sat down to watch this episode-the last ever episode-I was excited and sad. I was sad and excited and holding back the urge to call ABC execs and tell them to go jump in the ocean. Still, I settled in with a nice milkshake and watched.

The first ten minutes blew me away. Everything was happening so fast and I was just waiting for something to go wrong. Yet, everything went right or right-ish, anyway! Which lead me to decide that things would end up going very wrong within the last ten minutes.

Two for the Road the 20th episode of season two of Lost aired on Wednesday night. It was an episode that has caused shock waves over the fandom. Personally, I think I'm getting good because I figured out what would happen five minutes into the episode. I got to let out a big sigh, because if I'm getting to smart for those sneaky sons of bitches at Lost, I clearly have way too much time of my hands.

Wow. Just wow. The episodes just keep getting better and better. I'm still collecting my thoughts, but I'll try to give a okay review of 'Run and Gun'.
