walkwithheroes: [The Princess Bride] ([Lost] Dude...)

Just some thoughts on the wonderfully bittersweet episode of Lost that aired on March 14.

So, after eleven episodes we finally get to see more than two minutes of Claire. The character of Claire has been largely ignored this season. In fact, I'd dare to say she's been largely ignored for the last season and a half. That's rather sad to me. Kate's the wild card, the outdoor girl, the runner, the heartbreaker. Sun's the strong one, the wife, the calm voice of reason, the woman with secrets.

Claire...Claire's the every woman. She's not overly anything. She's just a normal, young woman whose trying to stay upbeat and alive. And that's why Claire's my favorite character on the show. She's. . . normal. You could know her in real life, and she tends to react to things like a real person would. So, I always love her episodes. Not, because we get big secrets or reveals, but because you get to see another side of Claire, and another side to the story.

Anyway, on to some episode/character/couple thoughts:

It's so huge, but everyone guessed it a year ago:

So...Claire's father is Jack's father. Jack is Claire's older half-brother. That's great. Interesting plot twist. But, I figured that out in Two for the Road, which aired last season. [That's the problem with this show, by the time they tell you the big stuff, you've already figured it out.]

Claire and Charlie Thoughts:

I found the episode very interesting. Finally, we get why Claire has her issue with men and trust. And I can't say I blame her. How would you feel if everyone you know and love had been lying to you for 15 years? Not too happy, I would think.

Anyway, I loved the C/C fight. Charlie, finally getting upset with Claire. I love the way he loves her, but she can't always threaten him and he shouldn't always go to "I'm sorry. I'm an ass." route. And it was very interesting the way Claire threatened to not let Charlie see Aaron anymore -Claire may be a sweetheart, but she knows where to hit Charlie were it hurts. He loves Aaron like his own, and Claire knows that.

The Desmond/Claire scenes were also rather good. There's some nice chemistry there. I'm hoping for a friendship, though. Desmond still loves Penny and Claire has Charlie.

Speaking of which...

After Desmond did the big reveal, I loved that Claire went to talk to Charlie. In fact, I love that Claire made all the "moves" this week. :)Their talk was, I think, the moment that made Claire 'get it'. She finally got that Charlie doesn't feel sorry for her and he certainly doesn't just like her. The guy's in love and he's not leaving her and Aaron anytime soon. It's good that Claire gets that now.

My only issue with C/C is: they kissed 2 weeks ago (island time), and we have yet to really get any C/C-as a couple scenes. I loved this weeks scenes, don't get me wrong...but, where's the kissing?

Other Character Thoughts:

-The Danielle/Kate scene was very well done. EL and MF were lovely in that scene. It was small, but packed a lot of punch.

-Locke is getting more selfish and stupid by the season. He keeps doing all these dangerous, stupid, selfish, creepy things...and he never gets punished or called on it. I'm glad Sayid is finally saying something, though.
