Couples You Couldn't Get Into

Has there ever been into a show/film/novel/whatever and really loved it? BUT, you couldn't into a couple.


Maybe it was the OTP and all the other fans were talking about them, but you just didn't care about them/like them together. It wasn't even that you shipped one or both of the characters with other characters. . .it was just. . .you have no strong feelings about/hated their romance. Maybe because you disliked/were indifferent to the characters themselves. Or maybe because they were just too perfect for each other and that took all the drama out of it. No matter what - you just weren't into the couple, and the rest of fandom was. So, you sort of felt out of place and decided to never speak of your dislike/indifference to the couple/characters.

I have. I was actually rather indifferent toward the romance in Can You Hear My Heart? - the main leads were nice and function together and I liked them both; but, I didn't care if they ended up together. Mostly because I knew they would end up together. Took all the drama out of it for me.

I have the same issue with a lot of Western shows. I rarely ship when watching them. I think the reason is that most of them last for years, so there is a very small chance the couple will stay together for that long. They'll break up - I'll be heartbroken. I just can't deal with that. So, I usually refuse to ship. At least hardcore. The only couples of Western television that I've shipped are from my very early years as a 'shipper. More or less


So - what couples couldn't you get into and why?

I started Firefly and that''s pretty much Mal/Inara for me. I like the characters and I don't ship them with anyone else but I'm ehhh on their OTPness.

I sort of felt the same way with Firefly - I loved all the characters, but I didn't really care if Mal/Inara or Simon/Kaylee got together. If they got together, that was cool. If not, that was cool too. I actually saw more of a spark with Simon and River. . .but that's for another entry.

I find Simon/Kaylee kind of cute but haha I'm River/Simon all the way. ;)
