I've updated my other journal,
zainichi_hana with character bios. Check them out, if you like.
I also downloaded Boku wa Imoto ni Koi o Suru (raw) and watched it last night. I have a few thoughts:
The Good
-Jun, Nana, and Yuuta all looked nice. No really, they were all adorable in their little school uniforms.
-Jun and Nana are great together and have good chemistry. [I heard a rumor they don't like each other in real life, though. If that's true, you can't tell on screen. Then again, it's usually the actors that hate each who have the best on-screen chemistry.]
-The outside scenes (during the day) are beautifully shot.
-Iku and Haruka went to an aquarium! Going to an aquarium is a much honored staple of romance dramas and shoujo mangas.
-There were some rather heartfelt moments between the characters of Yori and Iku, it made me sad. I wanted them to get a happy ending, even if they were twins.
The Bad
-The Tomoka character. I really didn't care for her.
-The lighting! Especially in the outdoor night scenes/bedroom scenes. Way too dark. I could hardly tell Yori's facial expressions during several key scenes.
-The fact that it took the characters so long to say their lines. Scenes went on much longer than they had to.
Other Stuff
-Um. . .I'm fuzzy on the ending. Did they 'breakup'? [I was told the manga, which spreads years, ends with them meeting in England in their late twenties/early thirties. They hug. 'Cause they've apparently decided to be together where no one knows them. How Flowers in the Attic! Only, less creepy.]
And, of course I had to do this video for the movie. The song just screams incest or, you know, Catholic school girl lesbians. Either one.
Title: All the Things She Said
Song: All the Things She Said by t. A. T. u
Disclaimer: I don't own the song or the film.
Details: WMV file. 13.84MB. 3:24 minutes.
Theme: A vid focusing on Yori and Iku.
Vidder's Note: Like I couldn't not do a video to this song for this film. I would like to say this: you know how it takes them forever to get a word out? (Honestly, I watched it raw and spent the two hours screaming: 'Spit it out, already!') Well, it takes them even longer to move. The characters spend half the film just sitting or standing and staring off into space. The made it a bit hard for action shots.

Date: 2007-09-20 07:30 am (UTC)I have to agree with you, the live action movie is a bit slow. It seems they didn't want to tackle the incest too openly and making it atshouse-y.
Where did you d/l the movie? I have been looking for it for quite some time (having only read the manga and seen the anime) and all I can find is the making of but never hte movie.

Date: 2007-09-20 08:22 pm (UTC)Thank you so much. I've been planning to use that song for a video since I heard there was going to be a live action movie. But, I must confess that finding the right clips was rather hard. For a movie about incest, the two are surprisingly not together in 'romantic' ways that often.

I agree. They quickly got the sex over with and than spent the next hour and a half dealing with the hardships of the Yori/Iku relationship. It was very arthouse-y.

I got the movie here at LJ. Try
