Author's Notes: I thought this would be hard to write. I'm not a Locke fan and I've never written slash. So, I just sort of went with my muse, who wrote Locke&Sayid, with some BYOS (bring your own subtext). Written for

Summary: Sayid and Locke do some traveling post-island, while Sayid looks for someone and Locke looks at Sayid.
Sayid didn't like to think about it. He just knew he couldn't be alone anymore, so maybe that's why he asked Locke to tag along with him on one last adventure.

John Locke was a lot of things, but he wasn't a total idiot. He knew that once the castaways went back to the 'real world', they'd break away from one another.
Danielle and Kate were arrested, both for murder. Sawyer headed to New York, no one had to ask why. Jack and Hurley made their way back to Los Angeles; Jack to tell Ana's mother what had happened, Hurley to go back to his family. Charlie, Claire, and Aaron all headed back to Australia; Charlie to see Liam, Claire and Aaron to see Claire's mother. Desmond headed straight for his lost lady-love, and for some odd reason, he asked Alex to tag along.
That left John alone. He didn't much feel like going home and his legs were beginning to bother him. So, he didn't think anything of it when Sayid asked him to come on a trip with him.

It did not take long for Locke to figure out that Sayid was searching for someone. The twosome traveled up and down the California coast, just looking.
“You know, it's usually when you aren't looking for something that you find it.” Locke casually told Sayid one night over dinner.
Sayid nodded sadly. “I suppose so, yes.” He stood up from the table and offered Locke a tight smile. “Good night, John.”

After six months, Locke was starting to think that Sayid was cashing ghosts. Which is why Locke was so surprised when Sayid came to him with a large grin and a: “I've found her.”
Sayid took Locke to a house in the middle of a lovely neighborhood. The whole place reminded Locke of a postcard, something which made his vaguely annoyed.
Watching Sayid knock on the door of the house, Locke felt himself becoming uncertain. He felt like running. Sayid wouldn't. . .Locke wasn't needed anymore.
“John?” Sayid reached out and touched Locke's arm, his hand lingering for a moment more then necessary. “You'll come in, won't you?”
Locke swallowed hard and nodded. “Of course. I'm interested to met the woman you've been looking for all this time.” He put his hand over Sayid's. “I-”
He was cut off by the door opening. Locke's words and thoughts were drowned out by a beautiful young woman, who half sobbed, half laughed at the sight of Sayid.
John Locke was a lot of things, but he wasn't a total idiot. He knew that once the night was over, he and Sayid would no longer be traveling companions.
Somehow, that hurt him more than knowing he'd never see the other castaways again.
