He and Her
Theme: 15. Bathing in artificial light
Character/s or Pairing: Jayne Cobb/River Tam
Series: Firefly and Serenity
Rating: PG
Notes: I don’t own them. Comes after ‘Not a Last Resort‘. Takes place after the series and film. But, there are some changes in the timeline.
Jayne feels like a dirty old pervert sometimes. He knows she’d mind if she knew and that makes him feel like an even bigger pervert. Standing below the catwalks and watching as the little girl sleeps on the catwalks, all bathed in Serenity’s lights. He likes to watch her, but he can’t help but feel a little odd about it.
River feels everything, she can’t not. But, it’s a bit quieter and less messy when she sleeps. Even after Miranda, River knows she’s not a normal girl and she never will be. No more whispers of the dead, but there are still…secrets. Secrets of the government and of people. Like Jayne’s secret---he watches her sleep on the catwalks. He thinks she’s beautiful in the light of the ship.
And River’s got a secret, she doesn’t mind that he watches her.

Character/s or Pairing: Jayne Cobb/River Tam
Series: Firefly and Serenity
Rating: G
Notes: I don’t own them. Comes after ‘He and Her‘. Takes place after the series and film. But, there are some changes in the timeline.
“Was?” Simon glanced up from his book. “How did Fire change, mei-mei?”
River chewed on her lower lip for a moment. “He fell in love with Water. Water flows and never stops. Water is wise. Fire fell in love with Water.”
From beside Simon, Kaylee suddenly perks up. “Yeah? Then what? Did he tell her?”
River smiled. “No, he was too shy. So, he changed a bit for her. He let his softness show. He became warm and fierce and wonderful.”
Kaylee leaned forward. “Then he told her?” Simon looked slightly bored, but played alone. “I bet he married her, right River?”
“Yes, he took her to wife.” River spared a glance at Jayne, who was quietly sitting and apparently asleep. “Right, Jayne?”
Jayne opened one eye. “Yeah, sure. Just like a little fairy tale.”
