With "Lost" ending in three weeks, I just got to ranting about it in my head and thought I'd post. 'Cause "Lost" is my favorite show and I am pissed at it this season or as I've come to call it the: 'Locke, Jack, Kate, stupid Hatch' season.
Oh, how I miss the days of season one! The show has really lost focus this season. They are spending way too much time on that hatch, Locke, Kate, and Jack. They are ignoring other characters and plots: Sun, Jin, Hurley, Claire, Charlie, etc and anything to do with them. They have brought new characters on, only to ignore them: Eko, Ana, and Libby. They have written characters one way one episode and one way the next. Etc, etc, etc.
And they really don't seem to be listening to fan reaction, at all. Fans say: 'Hey, what...' or 'We hope....' and the writers go the other way with that storyline. I really think the writers need to put down the crack pipes and take a look at the falling ratings.
Honestly, this season has been so boring. During the first three episodes, it was like the same hatch scenes over and over, just from someone else's POV. I was just sitting there screaming: "MOVE ON! WE GET IT!" It was like they were trying so hard to be edgy and cool, that they forgot the points of the series and the plots and characters of season one.
As for the new characters. I feel awful for them. Eko seems so cool, but we hardly know him. Libby seems like she would be really interesting, but we hardly know anything about her. Ana has hardly gotten any development and is bascially 'tough chick who killed Shannon'.
Which just makes it so much worse with all the rumors about Ana and/or Libby dying this season. Did they really bring them on, just to kill them?
I really hate to say it, but: I could see Locke, Jack, and Kate being the only three to make it to the end. If only because the writers seem to be soo in love with them and their same old daddy and 'I can do this. I have control.' issues.

Me to. Jack, Kate, and Locke keep having the same scenes over and over and it is pissing me off.
Love Eko. But, I think it is an Ana episode.

Date: 2006-05-03 07:12 pm (UTC)That explains why I've not been watching Lost lately. I used to like Locke A LOT, but this season seems wildly out of character for him - or at least - for the Locke I'd built up.
I think - it started going downhill once Shannon died. Just - We had Boone go, and to have the brother and sister (step, whatever.) be the people to die... just seemed... too convienient. It felt to me like they didn't want to, or weren't able to come up with anything for Shannon to do. Which is sad, because I felt that she was becoming a really interesting character in those episodes before she died.
And Jin and Sun, along with Charlie and Claire - always have my full attention on screen. I care about their stories - but Jack? I think Jack is a whining monkey-child. It sounds bad, but honestly. I am not a Jack fan. at all.

But, Locke has just gotten more and more out of character. For goodness sake even Terry O'Quinn hates the way Locke is this season.
I think it started going down with the first three episodes, because it was the same scenes for three hours! However, Shannon's death really bothered me. I thought it was pretty cheap to kill her off. I heard they did it because the writers or whoever and Maggie Grace were having contract issues. I bit it was because she read for X3.
Agreed. The people that are interesting and well liked by fans get no screen time or real development, while the same three people (Kate, Locke, and Jack) take all the screen time. And yet, Evie Lilly has said she's unhappy that Kate isn't getting enough screen time? WTF Evie, Kate is on every week?
What is going on on that island? 'Cause those writers and actors are all going crazy and getting pissed.
