Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] epicyclical. Basically, you write facts down about your fanon version of characters. I’m using the characters from ’Firefly’, or the ’verse that I’ve written for them.

My River Tam-Cobb

-Is shorter then both her sons. She also looks at least ten years younger then her age and has been mistaken for her sons’ sister many times before.

-Has not finished The History of Earth-That-Was by Rufus Cho, despite the fact that she received it as a birthday gift over twenty years ago. She blames the fact that she became a married woman and a mother, which ended up taking up a lot of her time. Truthfully, River finds books by Rufus Cho to be overrated and longwinded.

- Tried to breed a lizard and a bird once, when she was five. Despite knowing that breeding a lizard and a bird was not possible, River still tried. The week before, she had read a book about dragons and she wanted to make her own dragon for a pet. It didn’t go well and her parents took her to see several doctors about her “odd behavior”. Simon protested.

- Nearly died the three times she gave birth, even though she can take down a whole Reaver army.

-Childhood Nicknames: The other students called her ‘Little Mouse’. Simon called her ‘Mei-Mei’

- Used to fear that she would never love anyone as much as she loves Simon. She loves him so much, that she’s rather be dead then be away from him. As a child and teenager, she had feared she’d never love anyone that much.

- River once tackled a neighbor, Anders Somers, to the ground and hit him repeatedly with a stick, after he said she wasn’t a ‘real’ girl. They were eleven.

- Had her first kiss, when she was thirteen. She kissed Anders Somers in her family’s garden. Anders was a messy and awkward kisser.

-Had her first sexual encounter, when she was eighteen. She lost her virginity to her husband, Jayne a day after they were married. They had to wait a day, because the party that was thrown for them lasted so long, that River was too sleepy to do anything else. The first time was awkward and slightly painful, but it got better.

- River likes to hide in small places when others are fighting or when she feels uncomfortable. Her favorite place-in the barn, in a tiny hole.

- Loves: Her make-shift family. Simon. Jayne. Her kids. The way Jayne’s arm hair sticks to him, after a long day of work. The way her sons finish one another’s sentences and thoughts. The way Mal still calls her ‘little one’, even though she’s an adult. The way Simon smiles at her, with a ‘just for you, mei-mei’ smile. Dancing along the wooden floors of her home. The way Matt reads out loud after meals. The fact that Jay still carries Rayne around. The smell of flowers in the morning. The fact that she embarrasses her boys, but they never say so. Playing jacks with Kaylee, even though they are much too grown up for it. The fact that Matt’s IQ is as high as hers; she loves seeing what she could have been and done, if it hadn’t been for the Alliance. The way Jayne looks at her.

- Hates: That she’ll never be the girl she once was and that she’ll always be a little crazy. The Alliance. The fact that she can still feel when Reavers are coming. The smell of death. The fact that her children are paying for her ‘sins’. Fighting with anyone. The fact that Jay sometimes has to carry Rayne around. The fact that she knows she embarrasses her boys, but that they don’t have the courage to say anything. What was done to Rayne, and the fact that Rayne doesn’t really seem to mind. When Jay beats up people for insulting the family; he never can use his words, even though his IQ is the same as Simon’s.

-Worst Memory: The day she really realized that she was losing her mind. She had woken up one morning and just decided to slash her mattress, because she felt a pea. River thinks that was the day the sane part of her knew she had gone crazy.

- Earliest Memory: Waking up in the middle of the night. There had been a thunder storm, and River was four and scared. So, she ran all the way across the manor and to Simon’s room. River quietly crawled into her brother’s bed and cuddled up with him.

- Fondest Memory: The days she had her children. River says that her children are her greatest gifts.

- Ten things my River Tam-Cobb doesn't like about Jayne:

The way he still thinks Simon may not like him, even though its been years and River knows for a fact that Simon thinks of Jayne as a brother.

The way he always smokes a cigar, because the smell gets all over her clothes and hair.

The fact that he brought their sons to cat-houses when they turned sixteen.

The fact that Jayne still refuses to kiss her on the mouth, unless they are in private.

The way his eye still wonders to other women.

The carved ballerinas he makes her; they look like ducks!

That he still thinks money is way more important then people.

The fact that he still doesn’t think he’s good enough for her.

The fact that he always has too much to drink on Signal Day.

The fact that he’s perfect and he doesn’t see it.

- Ten things my River Tam-Cobb does like about Jayne:

The way Jayne calls her ‘Riv’.

The way he still looks at her, even though they’ve been married for years.

The fact that she knows he’d rather die then cheat on her.

The fact that he still carves her ballerinas.

The fact that the smell of smoke still lingers, long after he’s left a room.

The fact that he says their children are the best things in the world, and the best thing he’s ever done.

The way he teases everyone in the house, but gets sour when they tease him back.

The smile he gets on his face when she enters a room.

The fact that he can’t sleep unless his arm is wrapped around her waist.

The way he loves her, even though she’s crazy.

My Jayne Chester Cobb

-Is a fabulous guitar player. Though, he just places for gathers or parties. He also likes to lock his bedroom door and play naked.

-Has a box, at the top of his closet. Inside the box he has: a piece of hair from each of his kids. A picture of his parents and brother. A pearl, that broke off a necklace. A piece of a shirt that belong to Book. A daisy bracelet that River gave him once.

-Jayne can’t use the toilet if other people are in the room or the area. He says he has a shy bladder; Mal says no one wants to be in the room or area when Jayne does his business, and to stop bringing it up at the dinner table.

- Once sat in the middle of nowhere and tried to figure out if he was sly or not. He was fourteen, and had just been informed that he had been named after an uncle who was sly. Jayne came to the conclusion that he liked girls-and that he wanted to kiss one.

-Childhood Nicknames: Rainy Jayne, which is what his mother called him, as it always seemed to rain on his birthdays. Giant, which is what the other kids called him, as he was 5’7 by the age of thirteen. (He stopped growing after a while.)

- Left home when he was seventeen. He left with a gun, some coin, a bag of clothing, and a hat that his father bought for him. Jayne left on a piece of junk ship, that fell right out of the sky a week after he got off on Deadwood.

-Jayne names all his guns after girls he has known and liked. Some he knew in a biblical sense, others he had crushes on, and others he just plain liked.

- Had his first kiss he was fifteen. It occurred to him one morning that his younger brother, Mattie, had had a kiss and he hadn’t. So, Jayne marched right over to a girl (he thinks her name may have started with a ‘F’) and kissed her quickly on the lips. He never spoke to her, he just walked away. Still, for the next couple of months…she’d blush and giggle when he was nearby.

-Had his first sexual encounter when he was sixteen. On his sixteenth birthday, his father brought him to the local cat-house. Jayne was given one of the younger whores, Vera. She was pretty and sweet and let him take his time. Vera was motherly and talked him through his nervousness. Jayne is still a little in love with her.

-Had major crushes on Inara and Kaylee, when they first were on Serenity together. He never told them, but somehow he thinks they know.

- Loves: His guns. His knives. River. The kids. The make-shift family he has. The way River loves the things he carves her. His cigars. The sound of his kids when they are all laughing together. The fact that his kids are so gorram smart. The way his boys finish one another’s thoughts and sentences. The way his kids are so close. The way River smiles at him. The way his sons look at him, like he’s their hero. The way his daughter calls him ’Daddy’. The smell of River’s hair, and the fact that it smells like fresh rain.

- Hates: The Alliance and what they did to River and Rayne. Reavers. The way he gets so sour when others tease him. How he cares about money more then most people. The way he can’t help but still look at pretty girls. The fact that he’s selfish and unkind. The fact that he can’t stop himself from thinking that Simon doesn’t like him.

-Worst Memory: Ariel. When he nearly turned River and Simon in and the look of horror that was on her face. Granted, there have been other close calls, but Jayne knows that was the one time he sold out two of the people he loves. It was the first time he really could have lost them, as well.

- Earliest Memory: The birth of his brother, Mattie. Jayne was six and remembers seeing some pink little creature wrapped in a blue blanket and crying much too loudly. Jayne just knew having a little brother would cause him nothing but trouble.

- Fondest Memory: River’s eighteenth birthday. That was the day he figured out that, yes, she loved him back. It was also the day that started their short courtship.

- Ten things my Jayne Cobb doesn't like about Simon Tam:

The fact that Simon still wears those prissy vest, even though he hasn’t lived on the Core for years.

The fact that River would chose Simon over him, if the choice ever came.

The way Simon turned Matt toward a career in medicine. Even though, Jayne is proud of his son, he hates that Matt now looks toward Simon for advice.

The way Simon still talks to River as if she’s five, whenever River has an ‘episode’.

The fact that Simon calls Jayne’s carvings ‘ducks’, even though they are clearly ballerinas.

The prissy way Simon introduces himself as ‘Dr. Tam’, even though he no longer has a license to practice medicine. Thanks to the Alliance.

The fact that Simon is so clean and proper, even after all this time.

The way Simon can get Mal and Zoe to listen to him and his ideas. Jayne still can’t do that.

The way River lights up when her brother enters the room and the way she smiles at him.

The fact that Simon knows Jayne isn’t good enough for River.

- Ten things my Jayne Cobb does like about Simon Tam:

Simon is Jayne’s best friend. Strange as it sounds, Simon agrees with Jayne and sticks up for him.

The way Simon introduces Jayne not as ‘My sister’s husband’, but as ‘My brother, Jayne.’

The way he taught the Cobb kids basic first-aid, and never brought it up.

The fact that Simon loves little Kaylee with all his heart.

The fact that Simon would protect River, no matter what. And the fact that he risked and gave up everything to free her.

The way Simon says: ‘No, this must be what going mad feels like.’, every time something strange happens.

The fact that Simon stitches Jayne up after accidents and fights, and that he makes sure to leave a scar, because he knows Jayne likes them.

The fact that Simon wears a girly apron when he cooks. Jayne loves to tease him about it.

That Simon goes fishing with him, every couple of weeks. Just so the two of them can talk and compare ‘war stories’.

The fact that Simon may just think Jayne is good enough for River.

Jayne Chester Cobb Jr.

-Is secretly terrified of spiders. He fears them more then Reavers, but he tries to make sure that no one knows.

-Has a love of opera, though he only has a small collection and has to listen to them in one of the barns.

-Fakes being dumber then he is (he has a genius level IQ), because he sees himself as a lowly farmer and thinks that being too smart would turn people off.

- Once downloaded The Collected History and Laws of the Tam Family off the Core. He didn’t make it past year 1997 of Earth-That-Was and stopped after a law that stated: ‘No Tam shall marry below their station’.

-Childhood Nicknames: Jay, it’s stuck.

-Named his first gun, which he got for a birthday present when he turned thirteen, Serra, after Serra Kaylee Reynolds.

- Cannot swim. He just never bothered to learn.

- Had his first kiss, with Claire Roland, a local girl from a nearby town. They were both twelve. It was a dare, and the kiss was closed mouth.

-Had his first sexual encounter, when he was sixteen. Jayne Cobb brought him to a whore house and bought him the youngest and prettiest whore, Sarah. It wasn’t very bad.

- Once carried Derri Reynolds five miles. Derri couldn’t breathe due to her illness, so Jay ran the whole way. He fell at the steps of their home, screaming for his uncle Simon.

- Loves: His family, both by blood and otherwise. Sitting behind Derri, because of the way she sits so gorram straight, he has to stop himself from drawing little lines along her back. The way Rayne used to let him pick her up and spin her around. The smell of Serra’s perfume. The feel of a gun in his hand. The way his parents still look at one another. The way he and Matt finish one another’s thoughts and sentences. Playing music with his siblings. Derri Reynolds’ laugh. The way his father smiles after a long day of work. Hoban ‘Wash’ Washburne’s jokes. That Zoe Washburne taught him to shoot. Girls, girls, and girls. Serenity’s common area. The smell of freshly cut grass. The way Rayne smiles at him, when she remembers who he is.

- Hates: The way he and Matt finish one another’s thoughts and sentences. The fact that Serra will never kiss him. The fact that he should have married Derri, but now she’ll probably end up married to Matt or some bible-lover from the Core. The Alliance and what they’ve done to his family. His grandparents, on his mother‘s side. The confused look Rayne gives him, when she forgets who he is.

-Worst Memory: The day they discovered that Rayne had been taken. Jay remembers being so scared and angry; he never wants to feel that way again.

- Earliest Memory: Sitting beside his mother, who was telling her father, that she was going to have Matt. Jayne had been shot and River said she was telling him about the baby, to make him want to live.

- Fondest Memory: The first time he shot a target. Until that time, Jay had thought he would never be able to shoot straight.

- Ten things Jay Cobb doesn't like about Derri Reynolds:

She’s a bible-lover and can’t seem to bring herself to not be one.

No matter how much he asks, she refuses to make her sister, Serra, kiss him.

She won’t let him win when they play Chinese-checkers.

That gorram bible she carries around.

The way she puts him in his place when he’s rude or cruel.

She’s got some illness and even though she says he’s her best friend, she won’t tell him what it is she’s got.

She can swim and she loves teasing him about the fact that he can’t.

She never forgives him when he’s mean to her. Instead, she says it’s in the past and not to worry about it. Jay’s scared that one day, she’ll get so mad at him that she’ll bring everything up.

She’s a better shot then he is. Thankfully, she doesn’t use a gun much.

She hates opera and refuses to listen to his collection with him.

- Ten things Jay Cobb does like about Derri Reynolds:

Aside from he and Shadow Reynolds, Derri is the only kid to stay on Shadow and not leave.

The way she laughs at all his jokes, even when they aren’t very funny.

She’s got a mean left hook and will punch a boy or man if they get fresh.

She’s got her own personal code of conduct and morals, and she follows them-no matter what.

Her hand fits perfectly in his, and sometimes he needs a hand to hold.

She’s never told anyone that he’s scared of spiders and Jay knows she never will.

The way she smiles at him, like he’s a gentlemen.

The way she silently and calmly states the facts, even when things are going to hell in a hand basket.

The fact that she probably would have married him, if he had asked her.

The fact that she always asks for him, and no one else, when she is ill.

Matthew Simon Cobb

-Is scared of the dark. There’s just something about too much darkness that makes him think something bad will happen. He prefers some light.

-Has a birthmark, that’s really just a bunch of ‘beauty marks’, which make the shape of a circle on his right thigh.

- Once met his mother’s father. The meeting was brief, though Matt knew that the man was not to be trusted.

- Hates the Core. He feels lonely when he’s there and thinks that the main planets are too crowded. The people there don’t get what’s really going on. Plus, every time he enters a building, he feels like he’s in a museum and that he shouldn’t touch anything.

-Childhood Nicknames: Matts, it is what Jay and Rayne have called him forever. Doctor Cobb, is what Shadow Reynolds used to refer to him as. Doc, Mal Reynolds calls him that.

- Once, on a dare, he spent a whole night on Serenity, alone. He was eight and scared to death, because it was so dark. But, he stuck it out and Jay had to give him his dessert for a whole week.

-Once got really drunk and made-out with Derri Reynolds. They were both adults, but it was still strange. Both claim to not really remember what happened, but Matt remembers and he’s pretty sure Derri does as well.

- Had his first kiss, Hannah Lord. She was the younger sister of his roommate in his pre-med program on Osirus, he was fifteen.

-Had his first sexual encounter, when he was fifteen. Though he has told his father and it is commonly believed that he lost his virginity when he was sixteen, at a whore house. The truth is, he and Hannah Lord had some very awkward and very short sex. They kind of dated for a couple of years, but never could get it right.

- Used to have nightmares about being killed by Reavers, but they stopped when Rayne returned home.

- Loves: His family. Being a doctor. Derri Reynolds’ laugh. The way he and Jay finish one another’s thoughts and sentences. The smell of a hospital. The fact that Rayne has been correcting his spelling since she was two. The way his father dances with his mother. That Mal calls him ‘Doc’. The way Derri’s hand fits in his. Kaylee Tam’s cooking.

- Hates: The Alliance. His mother’s parents. Reavers. The way he and Jay finish one another’s thoughts and sentences. The fact’s just 5’9, and feels much too short. That he didn’t stay on Shadow, but went to see the ‘verse; he feels badly that he left. That no matter what, he’ll always be a bit of a geek.

-Worst Memory: The day they discovered that Rayne had been taken. Matt felt powerless for the first time in his life.

- Earliest Memory: The birth of Rayne and the death of Book. It was one of the best and worst nights of his life.

- Fondest Memory: His first surgery, it was on an older man and his grandson was so happy and grateful, that he and his wife named their son after Matt.

- Ten things Matt Cobb doesn't like about Jayne ‘Jay‘ Cobb:

The way Jay teases Matt about being proper, now. Matt sees it as having bettered himself.

The fact that Jay is still after a kiss from Serra, even after years of ‘no’s.

The fact that Jay could of married Derri, but didn’t.

The way Jay shoots first and ask questions later.

The way Jay can be rude or cruel to people, and that he doesn’t seem to mind.

The fact that Matt is sure Jayne loves Jay just a little bit more then he loves him.

The way Jay is selfish and doesn’t seem to know that he is.

Jay loves opera, enough said.

That Jay is six feet, and he stands so straight that some people think Jay’s even taller then that.

Jay probably is a better man, despite all his flaws.

- Ten things Matt Cobb does like about Jayne ‘Jay‘ Cobb:

Jay could of married Derri, but he didn’t.

Jay carries Rayne around, when she forgets how to walk.

Jay’s got layers.

He’s loyal.

Jay can’t beat Derri at Chinese-checkers.

Jay can’t hold his liquor. He acts like an idiot when he’s wasted.

Jay’s protectiveness of the girls of Serenity.

The way Jay cleans his guns on the floor, even though they have a table.

The fact that Jay plays jacks with Rayne, when she has a good day.

Jay’s maybe the best brother in the world, and he doesn’t act like an ass about it.

Rayne Tam Cobb

-Is unsure if she’ll ever really be able to remember everything and everyone she loves. It wouldn’t be so bad, if she didn’t feel so guilty about it.

-Has been seeing Book and her little dead niece, Grace, since they died. She has never seen a problem with it and has always taken comfort in seeing Book.

- Fears she’ll just wake up one day and not remember anything. That she’ll wake up and not remember anyone or how to do anything. That she’ll just a shell of a person, laying there on a bed. It’s the only reason she misses her doctors.

-Sleeps curled in a ball, at the edge of her bed. Though, she hasn’t slept much since she was fourteen.

-Childhood Nicknames: Ray, is what her brothers have always called her. Rayne says it is because they didn’t know she was a girl, until she hit eleven and started to grow curves. Shadow Reynolds calls her Rayne Drops.

-Has been corrected people’s spelling since she was two.

-Thinks of Hoban “Rex” Washburne as her best friend. She loves and adores him and thinks he’s the best person in the whole ’verse. Plus, he never gets mad when she buries his dinos.

-Had her first kiss, when she was thirteen. She kissed a seventeen year old boy named Henry, just to get it over with. The kiss was rather nice, very sweet and soft. Rayne was rather disappointed that he told her it was nice, but rather like kissing a little girl.

-Once told Shadow to think of her whenever he sees roses. This has lead him to believe that she knew she was going to be kidnapped.

-Buries Rex’s dinos because they mock her, though no one is really sure what she means by that.

- Loves: Her family. Dancing. Book being her friend. Her Reaver, whom she named Angel, after the planet where they met. The way Serra Reynolds smiles sadly at Jay. That Matt reads to her. The way Rex and Lee play with her, even though they have work to do. The way Jay carries her around, when she forgets how to walk. The way everyone’s thoughts sound in her head. That Shadow always finds her when she hides around Serenity. The way she and her brothers are contacted and that her brothers finish one another’s thoughts and sentences.

- Hates: Her Reaver and the fact that she loves him. The Alliance. Her old doctors. The shots they gave her and the fact that she needs them. The fact that she knows what will happen before it happens. What her doctors made her into.

-Worst Memory: The day she woke up on Angel and knew what would happen to her now that she was there.

- Earliest Memory: Her birth and seeing Book in the corner, smiling at her. She remembers everything.

- Fondest Memory: It’s not really her memory, but the time that she showed Shadow what it would have been like if she had stayed and they had become a couple. She showed them a mental image of the two of them having sex.

- Ten things Rayne Cobb doesn't like about Shadow Reynolds:

He’s not so much in love with her, as obsessed with a memory of her.

He hates her Reaver, Angel, and doesn’t like that Angel is her friend.

He gets jealous much too easily.

He doesn’t like to be around her when she has a bad day.

The way he looks at her, like he’ll always love her.

The fact that he knows what she can do, and he doesn’t care.

That he has a gun on his hip. Rayne doesn’t like guns.

The fact that he fights with her brothers over her care.

The fact that he doesn’t believe in anything; a person should believe in something.

The way he doesn’t mind that she isn’t the Rayne she was before. He loves her just the way she is, and she wish he won’t. She’ll only hurt him.

- Ten things Rayne Cobb does like about Shadow Reynolds:

The way he looks at her, like he’ll always love her.

The way he doesn’t mind that she isn’t the Rayne she was before. He loves her just the way she is.

The way he holds her hand when he’s scared.

The way he smiles at her.

The fact that he says he loves her, even when she doesn’t ask him to.

The way Shadow always smells like roses.

The way he calls her ‘Rayne Drops’

The way Shadow likes to cuddle up and sleep next to her, even though they don’t have sex-and he doesn’t seem to mind that bit.

The fact that he found her shots for her, so she wouldn’t just stop working and die.

He would never leave her alone, would he?
