He didn’t love her, that much he knew. But he had touched her in ways no one else ever would. He had, for a short time, made her his. He had controlled her. He had been her only waking thought. It was about control, Tom decided. Control and as she got older, lust. Lust that could one day be love.

In the room He had made, Tom was real. Real and able to touch. She lay under him and under his spells she was his. Tom whispered her name. “Ginny.” Afterward, he held her close to him.

“I don’t want to see you anymore.” The words hung in the air.

Surely she wasn’t serious. Did she want more? This was a test. A threat to take them public.

Well, Draco was not taking them public. Her family would have his head. Draco opened his mouth, but what came out was not what he wanted: “Ginny, why?”

“I don’t love you.” Ginny said coldly. “Never have. I’ve been using you for shagging practice.”

Draco suddenly smirked. “You’re an awful liar. I‘m not leaving you now that the war is over.” And before Ginny could protest, Draco kissed her.

“All right, Ginny?” The girl looked up at Ron and smiled. “Don’t look now, but Malfoy just walked in.”

Ginny glanced over at the door. Despite the fact that Draco had helped them defeat Voldemort, Ron still didn’t like him. Not many did.

“The whole Order was invited.” She reminded him. “Even Malfoy.”

“Hey!” They watched Draco walk over to Ginny. “Come with me.” And before Ron could stop him, Draco had dragged Ginny outside.

“Malfoy, people are going to-” Ginny couldn’t finish, Draco had started kissing her.

“People think we hate each other.” He reminded her. “We’re old enemies.”
