2010 Top Five Couples (Western) - Part 2
Dec. 16th, 2010 08:23 pmI've decided that 2010 was a great year for couples, OTPs, ships, whatever you wish to call them. I've made two different lists: one for Western Television and one for Asian Dramas. In order to make the list couples had to have certain things:
01. I had to have watched the series in 2010/it had to have aired in 2010.
02. They had to have been a couple or have had UST/potential couple-dom in the future.
03. I had to have loved them and wanted them to be together. (I had to want them to be together; not just liked them because they were the show's couple)
04. They had to have been together as a couple/potential couple for at least three episodes.
For the next two days, I'll bring you the Western couples. Today, I give you Number Two -
From Doctor Who - Rory/Amy.
Why Them: Before S5 started, there were a lot of people thinking Rory would be the next Mickey. But, he wasn't. Rory and Amy have a fairly unique realtionship. She loves him, because he's sweet, loyal, smart, cute, and an all around lovely human being. Yet, Amy doesn't want to grow up - she's got that Peter Pan thing going on. So, for a while it does seem like she'll leave Rory. But, you know what? She doesn't. Because, he's wonderful and he adores the ground she walks on. They are sweet and lovely and goofy and weird when they are together. It's refreshing to see a young Companion not with the Doctor. Rory is seriously my crush in the Eleven era. And, he and Amy have a nice romance - when Amy acts like a grown up. (Let's hope it lasts in S6)

Amy Pond: Oh, this is Rory, he's a... friend.
Rory: Boyfriend.
Amy Pond: Kind of boyfriend.
Rory: Amy!
Rory Williams: Amy, I thought I'd lost you.
Amy Pond: What, 'cause I got sucked into the Earth? You're so clingy.
Best Moments: Amy's Choice, where Amy finally wakes up and realizes that Rory is the best choice. Their reunion in Part 1 of the season finale - where she doesn't know who he is, but she cries. Then, she starts remembering and he's fighting what he is now. . . and then. . . he kills her. Their reunion in Part 2 of the finale. He waited. He waited 2,000 years for her. That's love.

Amy: Why am I crying?
Rory: Because you remember me. I came back. You're crying because you remember me.
Rory: I couldn't help it! It happened, it just happened!
Amy Pond: Shut up!
[Amy kisses Rory]
The Doctor: Yeah, shut up, because we've got to go!
Rory: I waited. 2,000 years, I waited for you.
Amy Pond: No, still shut up!
[Amy kisses him for longer]
Angst Factor: Well, Amy's kind of slutty with the Doctor for the first few episodes. Then, he dies and she forgets him. Then she remembers him, but he kills her. Then, they are separated for 2,000 years. And, then it's all okay.
Happiness Factor: When Amy realizes she loves Rory, they are adorable and just a bit sexy together. They're fun and cute as they explore the worlds the Doctor takes them to. I'm looking forward to the Christmas special.
