walkwithheroes: [The Princess Bride] ([Being Human] Going for the Cheek)
[personal profile] walkwithheroes
I've decided that 2010 was a great year for couples, OTPs, ships, whatever you wish to call them. I've made two different lists: one for Western Television and one for Asian Dramas. In order to make the list couples had to have certain things:

01. I had to have watched the series in 2010/it had to have aired in 2010.
02. They had to have been a couple or have had UST/potential couple-dom in the future.
03. I had to have loved them and wanted them to be together. (I had to want them to be together; not just liked them because they were the show's couple)
04. They had to have been together as a couple/potential couple for at least three episodes.

For the next three days, I'll bring you the Western couples. Today, I give you Number Three -
From Being Human - Mitchell/Annie. (I'd also like to give a special shout-out to the OT3 that is Mitchell/Annie/George and the Bromance of George/Mitchell - but, that's for another day and another list.

Why Them: I've liked them since the original pilot, where they were played by other actors. I think a lot of it has to do with the writing: she's very sweet, but with a bit of a temper. He thinks he's Mr. Cool, and while he is dark (comes with killing people for years), he's actually a fairly large dork. They both have a sweetness, a protectiveness, to them that I like. I like that she cares so much for him, and that he's so protective of her. I like that they dork-out about stuff together. I like that they have major sexual tension and amazing chemistry. And, they don't have to worry about being dragged apart by time, because he is a vampire and she's a ghost. No pesky death to bother them.

Annie: Oh! Sorry, I was...
Mitchell: Easy?
Annie: I was going for your cheek.
Mitchell: I felt that.
Annie: What did you feel?
Mitchell: Well, it was a bit cold, a bit tingly. It was like kissing somebody who just came in from outside. But it was nice. Did you feel anything?
Annie: Yeah, yeah, I felt something.

Annie: Okay I've written a list of questions for you to ask him.
Mitchell: [Reading the list] 'Are you screwing Janey Harris?'
Annie: She always fancied him and believe me, if she knew when I died she'd have been here before the ambulance crew.
Mitchell: [Reading the list] Aw, 'Has my sister had a baby?'
Annie: They've been trying for ages. I blame her husband, his name's Robin and he works in a Post Office.

Best Moments: Their first accidental kiss back in S1. He was going for the cheek, but she turned her head. Ops! When they dorked out about him being an extra in Casablanca. In S1, after she finds out about her death, and he tries to stop her from going all Poltergeist on the house. That dark, but strangely sexy scene in S2, where he talks to her about listening as she moves around the house - you know the one. The scene from S2's finale, where she's sucked into the afterlife and he feels it.

Mitchell: Carol from number twelve is gonna lend us Casablanca
George: Why?
Mitchell: I'm only in it!
Annie: Get out!
Mitchell: Yeah, I'm just an extra... in the bar... and you can't actually see me, obviously. But I do knock over a chair at one point and you can see that.
Annie: You were in Casablanca?! How did you swing that?
Mitchell: Well, I know people. I move and shake.

Mitchell: I kissed you once, d'you remember?
Annie: Yeah. Sort of.
Mitchell: You know sometimes I can hear you moving about in a different room and...I just think about your body. Under those clothes. I think about your skin.
Annie: What?! Mitchell, stop it, shut up.
Mitchell: D'you wanna kiss me again?

Angst Factor: Fairly high in S2. Mitchell is not himself and Annie is left alone a lot while her boys try to get their lives straight.

Happiness Factor:Rather high in S1. They're friends, getting to know each other, have a bit of UST, but it's all dorky and sweet. A bit less so in S2, but they still have some moments.

Tomorrow, Number 2.

man, this pretty much convinced me to pick up S2 again. I was a Mitchell/Annie shipper from day one and they're probably the main reason I watch. S2 was just so dark and there was so little Mitchell/Annie that I got turned off, maybe I should pick up again...are there any particularly good episodes?

S2 was painful. All the characters were off doing their own things; Annie had nothing to do. And, George and Mitchell were just so dark. I was into Mitchell/Annie since the original pilot back in 2008 - and have been since. That's why S2 was painful to write.

I'm not sure where you left off, and I can never remember what episode is which, but the last episode was heartbreaking and so perfect. Episodes 5, 7, and 8 were the best. This this (http://community.livejournal.com/vamp_n_ghost/56101.html#cutid1) entry at someones journal will show you Mitchell/Annie moments from each episode.
