walkwithheroes: [The Princess Bride] ([Life on Mars] Stay Forever)

I've decided that 2010 was a great year for couples, OTPs, ships, whatever you wish to call them. I've made two different lists: one for Western Television and one for Asian Dramas. In order to make the list couples had to have certain things:

01. I had to have watched the series in 2010/it had to have aired in 2010.
02. They had to have been a couple or have had UST/potential couple-dom in the future.
03. I had to have loved them and wanted them to be together. (I had to want them to be together; not just liked them because they were the show's couple)
04. They had to have been together as a couple/potential couple for at least three episodes.

For the next four days, I'll bring you the Western couples. Today, I give you Number Four -
From Community - Jeff/Annie.

Why Them: It's actually a fairly hard question. These two aren't a couple, and there is very little chance they'll ever be one. During the first few episodes of season one, the show focused on the idea of Jeff wanting to get with Britta. He formed the study group just to get close to her! Then, somewhere, some figured it out: Jeff/Annie have amazing chemistry. He's the sarcastic, self-absorbed, playboy and she's the smart, goal orientated, girl who wants everyone to be better than they are. Their interactions are adorable: she gives him a look, and he does what she wants. He gets her to be more mature and understand that no one, not even her, is perfect. They grow and learn from each other, while being total dorks and having amazing UST.

JA JA2

Annie: How much effort am I worth?
Jeff: I'd break a light sweat.

Annie: There's a conspiracy here. A dark, vast conspiracy that just may that go all the way to the top.
Jeff: This is Greendale, Annie. If there is a conspiracy, it goes to slightly above the middle.

Best Moments: Debate 101 - their first kiss, which was mostly done to win a debate! The episode 2.09 - "Conspiracy Theories and Soft Defenses". It's an insane spy spoof, with chase scenes in blanket forts and getting too close for comfort. It's a laugh out loud episode for other reasons, but the Jeff/Annie stuff is priceless. During season two, they haven't interacted much, but this episode. . .he "saved" her from an "explosion" and they end up on the ground, him above, the UST is a bit too much. And, pretty much any time she gets him to do what she wants with one look.

JA3 JA4

Jeff: You're just as selfish as I am. You're just not as good at it yet.
Annie: You're right. I could never be as good as you. Probably because I actually care.
Jeff: Profound, but technically meaningless.

Annie [to Jeff]: Well guess what, handsome hobo. Your gravy train's leaving the station.

Angst Factor: That first episode of season two. :( Other than that, not too much. It is a sitcom. The writers like to play between Jeff/Britta and Jeff/Annie, but for the most part they're one big happy study group family.

Happiness Factor:Fairly solid. When the two spend episodes together, they have a good time and the chemistry is there.

I'd also like to give a special shout-out to the Bromance of Abed/Troy - they are adorkable weirdos together.

Tomorrow, Number 3.
