I have had a horrible cold for the last week. I'm still getting over it - my nose leaks when I look down. Because of my cold, I haven't done any school work; I'm so behind, it's not good. But, I have been watching dramas. That I can do any time. It's a new season in Japan, so of course I'm trying stuff out.
Japanese Dramas I'm Watching/Plan to Watch:
Nagareboshi - I watched the first episode RAW and really love the old-school feel of it. It boosts a really awesome cast: Takenouchi Yutaka,Ueto Aya, Matsuda Shota and Kitano Kii. There's just one thing - I can so see this turning into a cliched melodrama hot-mess. It is produced by the person that produced Last Friends and Sunao ni Narenakute. I'm waiting for subtitles and will watch this one for at least three episodes.
Guilty Akuma to Keiyakushita Onna - I love love this one. The psychology-studying part of me is so fascinated by Meiko. I know she wants revenge, and it honestly seems like she won't hurt the innocent. . .but, I do think she may be insane. Kanno Miho and Tamaki Hiroshi are pitch perfect in this drama. I'm so interested in this drama, and can't wait to see more. I get vibes of past Japanese revenge dramas, and frankly - I like it.
Himitsu Based on a novel by Higashino Keigo, this is a weird one for me. I love anything written by Higashino Keigo and the cast is great: Sasaki Kuranosuke is a favorite and Shida Mirai does really well with dramatic roles. It's just. . .the know the wife is possessing her daughter's body, but the real-life age difference gets to me. I watched the first episode with subtitles and I did like it, but I may wait until the show is over. Besides, I know how it ends.
Q10 is written by the writer of Nobuta wo Produce and stars a lot of up-and-coming actors and actresses in their late teens/early twenties. I wasn't too sure about this one: boy finds robot, teach her about being human, falls in love. . .been there, done that. But, you know, what? I dug the second episode. I watched the first two RAW and found it kind of boring and 'help the character of the week' (a staple in high school dramas), but. . . the second episode wasn't that way at all. I'm going to keep watching this one, even if I'm already 90% sure how it will end.
Reinoryokusha Odagiri Kyoko no Uso stars Ishihara Satomi (love her!)and Tanihara Shosuke (I have such a cross on him!). She's a fake tv psychic and he's a detective. Together - they solve. . .stuff. What I love about it is the way the show teases with the idea that Kyoko may actually have some abilities. It's based on a manga by the writer of the Liar Game manga, so there is a bit of that myserties feel to it. I'm keeping this one: it's got humor, heart, and I like the cast.
I may also check out Marks no Yama and Perfect Report, if only for the casts, plot summaries, and the writers.
Korean Dramas I'm Watching/Plan to Watch:
Giant I love love this one. The business storylines don't interest me, but I that's okay. I'm mostly watching for the Lee sibling interactions and the Min woo/Miju storyline. Seriously, I don't care what happens with anything else - I just want Min woo, Miju, and their son together and happy in 2010.
Gloria I love this drama and the Fab Four. I want DA/YS to be happy, but I have a feeling angst is ahead. And JJ/KS will be facing issues. Creepy Stalker kidnapped JJ's older sister! Speaking of: Creepy Stalker needs to GTFO and leave my Fab Four alone. Oh, last week - DA/YS are married! Not to the government, I doubt they could register it. But. . .they are married. Who wants to bet that YS is pregnant and her stupid mother will pull her and DA apart before they find out about the baby. I worry YS's bitchy mom will force her to marry Creepy Stalker.
Dae Mul I've watched the first episode with subtitles and am already in love. Strong female lead, loving and intelligent male lead, and together - they are a brilliant, adult, OTP. I'm so looking forward to seeing this story evolve and the characters grow and change.
Playful Kiss I watched all of this RAW and need to catch up with the subtitles. Maybe over Christmas break. It's a really cute and adorable show. A good way to spend a couple of hours a week - brain off, heart on.
My Girlfriend is a Gumiho I didn't watch this as it aired, but it's a cute show. I watched starting from episode six and have four episodes left to watch. It's classic Hong sisters: cute, easy to watch, and just fun. You can tell the actors are having fun, and it was a nice way to spend a sick day.
Secret Garden I'm torn if I'm going for this one. Love the cast, but not a huge fan of the writer or director. Plus - the leads switch bodies? It just sounds too weird for a serious Korean drama. I think I'm going to wait and see what my flist thinks and until the show is half-way over to watch.
Jeon Woo Chi This is the drama based on the awesome 2009 movie that stars Kang Dong Won. I adored the film, so now I'm planning to watch the drama.w I'm looking forward to seeing who they cast. It airs in 2011, so that is a ways away.
Mary Stayed Out All Night Based off a comic by the writer of the Full House comic. Written by the writer of Goong and Soul. Directed by the director of Kyung Sook's Father. And staring a bunch of actors and actresses I adore. This should be good! Plus, I love the promo: it looks adorable. And, after Cinderella's Sister, it's nice to see Moon Geun Young smiling.
As for Taiwanese and Chinese dramas - it will depend on what gets subbed.

Date: 2010-10-27 10:28 pm (UTC)Do I know Korean? No. I've picked up some phrases from dramas and films, but I don't know it. Why?

Date: 2010-10-27 10:54 pm (UTC)Hm, I guess, personally, I didn't have much of an issue with that here, because it's like he's seeing her as his wife...but still, I see your point ^^;;
Oh, I was just curious, because you said you had watched some kdramas RAW.

Date: 2010-10-27 11:05 pm (UTC)Yes, I watch some stuff RAW and I can more or less understand what is going on. And, I do know some phrases and what not. But, I don't speak Korean. I just watch RAW when I'm really interested (or addicted) in the drama. :)

Date: 2010-10-28 01:00 am (UTC)Reinorokusha has a ridiculously long title but it's also ridiculously cute. <3 I love Satomi and Tanihara so much. They totally make this cracky drama enjoyable.
Marks no Yama is good! 8D It's top quality suspense
and Kora Kengo is hot.I think so far, my fav this season is SPEC, though. Have you thought about giving it a shot? It's not at all a typical detective drama that I expected it to be.no subject
