God of Study, might not be what I study

I wanted to give the K-drama God of Study a chance, because I adore Bae Doo Na. Plus, I've enjoyed seeing the younger cast playing the younger versions of some of my favorite stars in dramas and films. But, after the first two episodes, I'm left feeling less than thrilled with the drama. It isn't that it's bad, it's just. . .
Well, Bae Doo Na was overacting at times, something which was shocking. I can also see myself starting to hate the Kang Suk Ho character. I personally think Kim Soo Ro is just, well he's no Abe Hiroshi. Kang is suffering from the 'he's in a remake of a Japanese drama that starred Abe Hiroshi, and he's no Abe Hiroshi.'
As for the kids, the reason I had to give up Dragon Zakura was because Nagasawa Masami bothered me. Here, it is Go Ah Sung. I think this is due to two things: Nagasawa and Go were/are basically playing the same character. Go is clearly the Korean counterpart to Nagasawa's character. Also, I dislike Nagasawa's acting ability (I liked her when she was young, but she never improved - though, I did enjoy her in The Last Princess, a 2008 film) and I keep thinking about Nagasawa when Go is on screen. I know it's shallow, but I cannot help it.
Overall, God of Study is just not my thing. It's not only the acting, it's the storyline. I suppose that now that I am in my mid-20s, high school dramas aren't that appealing to me. I could like these characters if they were in another drama, but watching these kids study and improve themselves for sixteen hours isn't for me. It's doing very well in the ratings (nearing the 20% mark), so I'll keep an eye on it.
This is a Korean drama, after all. I'm sure something melodramatic will happen at some point. So, maybe I'll sneak a peak at it later - when crazy stuff starts happening.
Until then, I have several other dramas to check out. As well as five or six older dramas that I'm watching.
