I think the misconception comes from the fansub wiki. There really are a surprising number of Tw/Mainland/Hong Kong dramas that aren't subbed by fansub groups every year; at least 75% of these dramas aren't subbed.
It seems, to me at least, that a drama isn't subbed unless it stars certain idols. I mean, I totally expect an Ariel Lin drama or a Rainie Yang drama or a drama staring members of a pop group to be subbed. But, I doubt the upcoming romcom Prince + Princess 2 will be subbed, because the biggest name in it is Dylan Kuo.
But, okay, maybe I am a bit annoyed that all the cute little cliche formula dramas with the same people get subbed, while others don't. And, if they do get subbed it is years later. :/ Though, I will totally admit that there are a lot of good dramas that do get subbed - usually by Intangible FS or SUBlimes.
I will check those two dramas out. Thanks for the recs.
