Stolen from epicyclical. Basically, you write facts down about your fanon version of characters. I’m using the characters from ’Firefly’, or the ’verse that I’ve written for them.

The Reynolds

My Malcolm Reynolds

-Is not as good a shooter as Zoe, and he knows it. Zoe’s the best shot and maybe the reason he got through the war.

-Has the same gun that got him through the war. He wears it to this day and it is the first gun he goes to in a fight.

- Tried to teach himself how to ride a horse when he was five; though he chose the meanest horse on the ranch. He ended up falling off and ended up with a bloody nose and a broken wrist.

- Hates that his oldest, Serra, is a Companion. There are many things about that field of work that Mal simply doesn’t care for, the littlest of which is that a Companion is really a classy whore.

-Childhood Nicknames: Mal, it’s stuck. Boy, which is what the 40 ranchers, who worked for his mother, called him.

-Is still living in Serenity Valley. He has a wife, kids, a ranch. He’s happy , but mentally, he never left that last battle.

-Once tried to keep a diary (or rather a log) of his time fighting in the war. Oddly enough, he found it had a rather boring life and that he really liked writing curse words.

- Had his first kiss, Sally Simpson. They were at a social gathering at the local church. It happened during a slow dance. Both were fifteen.

-Had his first sexual encounter, with Sally Simpson when he was seventeen. Sadly, she was killed by Alliance right before Mal went off to war.

-Sometimes, late at night, he reads bits and pieces of Derri’s bible. Not because he’s religious or he believes in her God, but because he wants to understand her better. She has so much faith and he doesn’t really understand that.

- Loves: His family, blood or otherwise. Serenity, the ranch and ship. The smell of hay. The way Inara smiles at him, even when…no especially when she thinks he’s being a dummy. The way his children are all so different, but all so special. The way River and Rayne Cobb dance, like its just them. Simon and Matt and the way they just start rambling when someone asks a medical question. The sounds of laugher and teasing and music, when they fill his house.

- Hates: The Alliance. Reavers. The way he can’t leave Serenity Valley. When Jayne brings up his boil habits at the table. Whenever he and Inara fight. The chosen career of Serra. The fact that both his wife and one of his daughter’s is sick…and yet neither will really talk to him about it.

-Worst Memory: Serenity Valley…when he found out the Browncoats weren’t coming.

-Earliest Memory: Falling off that damn horse.

- Fondest Memory: The day Inara said she was going to not only have his baby, but also that she was leaving the Guild, for him.

- Ten things my Mal Reynolds doesn't like about Inara:

She was a Companion and there is something unsettling about knowing that your wife has slept with countless other men (and women) for a living.
She didn’t mind when Serra went to become a Companion, but she does seem slightly annoyed that Shadow chooses to have no religion and Derri took after Book in that respect.
The fact that she and Simon will go off together and talk about the Core and polite society. Oh, Mal knows there’s nothing going on, he just hates that Inara can’t seem to let it go.
The way she looks at him sometimes. She gets this Why did I marry you? look on her face, when she gets mad at him.
She can never let things be! She always wants him to talk about his feelings.
She still WAVES some of her ex-clients. Is she trying to make him jealous?
She hates the way he sings. Of course, he only sings when drunk…so maybe she just hates when he gets drunk.
She loves to tease him, about anything.
She plants those stupid roses.
She left everything she had…to be with him. What was she thinking?

- Ten things my Mal Reynolds does like about Inara:

She left everything to be with him. HIM!
She never really got that angry when he called her a whore.
She has a way of messing up the works, but he can’t stop himself from loving her.
The way she smiles and smells and sits and sleeps and has sex with him…
The way she never lets things be. Without her, he’d be all angst and emo.
The way she just fits. Ex-Companion or no, the woman does well in town.
She doesn’t let anyone disrespect their family.
She takes care of him when he’s drunk. She could just leave him on the porch.
The way she’s motherly toward everyone and the way she takes care of them.
She loves him. She really, really, loves him.

My Inara Serra-Reynolds

-Is sick. She and her middle child, Derri, have something wrong with them. But, Inara refuses to speak about it.

-Has a long and rather ugly scar on her right, inner, thigh. It is from a client that tried to rape her. She left the room alive, he did not.

-Is skilled in many areas, but is actually scared of water and hates to swim.

-Sometimes she wishes that she had never been a Companion. Granted, she would never have met Mal, but she would have never had to deal with some much of the heartache that she had to deal with over the years.

-Childhood Nicknames: None. Inara’s parents weren’t really that sort of people.

-Wishes Shadow would believe in something. A person should believe in something.

-Secretly thinks Jay Cobb should have married Derri, instead of waiting for a silly kiss from Serra. But, she also thinks Derri and Matt Cobb are better suited.

- Had her first kiss, at age thirteen with Elisha Abbot. It was part of a class and was not the least bit romantic or memorable.

-Had her first sexual encounter, at nineteen. It was with a chosen male, whom the Guild saw fit. She lost her virginity to him exactly two days before she took on her first client.

-Plants her roses, because they remind her of the garden of her Auntie Cloe. Cloe had been a Companion and was Inara’s favorite person.

- Loves: Family. Her roses. The sounds of the ranch. The feel of Mal’s arm when they sleep. Laughing with Kaylee. Seeing that her children have been raised correctly. The fact that she lead her life the way she wanted to.

- Hates: Not so much the Alliance, as what they do. The way she and Mal fight. That she gave her illness to one of her children. That River and Rayne have been damaged for ‘the greater good’. Reavers, though she’s more scared of them.

-Worst Memory: The day she found out she was sick. It was the day that changed everything.

- Earliest Memory: Being around four or five and in a large room in her grandmother’s house. An old and much too thin woman had been looking at her and had spoken for her not to touch anything and to be seen and never heard. She was a Serra, after all.

- Fondest Memory: The day she married Mal. It was simple. It was one of the first simple things she had ever done.

- Ten things my Inara Serra-Reynolds doesn't like about Mal:

He gets so jealous! Really, she’s just keeping in contact with a few old friends.
He never wants to share.
He gets angry or annoyed when the children try and go their own ways.
He can never be wrong.
He used to call her a whore.
He may just love Shadow more then the girls.
He loves her more then anything, but he can’t seem to really get past her past.
He thinks, though he never says he thinks it, that she’ll get bored and leave him.
He always has to start fights.
He hates her roses. Well, she hates his arrogance.

- Ten things my Inara Serra-Reynolds does like about Mal:

He’s loyal. Very, very loyal.
He loves with all his heart and would give up his life for any member of crew. And yes, that includes Jayne.
He hates her roses, but he never brings it up.
He doesn’t push her for information. Not the way she pushes him to share his feelings.
He went all the way to the Core, just to get Derri help, even though Inara never told him what Derri had wrong with her.
His smile.
He’s Mal Reynolds, no ifs ands or buts. He doesn’t care what you think about him.
The way he looks at her across crowded rooms.
The fact that he needs her. She may ‘mess up and gum up’ the works, but he needs her. More then anyone, and that’s new.
He really, really, loves her. And no one’s ever done that.

Serra Kaylee Reynolds

-Is never ever going to kiss Jay Cobb. It isn’t that she dislikes him. In fact, she is very fond of him. It’s just…it would mess things up and she simply can’t have that.

-Has killed a man, though no one outside the Guild’s leaders know about it. It was in self-defense and he was trying to hurt her. She still has nightmares about it.

-Cannot, for the life of her, figure out what is so gorram applying about her little sister. She’s the Companion! And yet, both Jay and Matt Cobb would drop everything and marry Derri, if Derri asked them to.

-Wanted to become a Companion because her mother made it sound wonderful. That, and Serra always knew she was fated for greatness. Though, she left the house on Sihnon, she maintains her Companion stance.

-Childhood Nicknames: Ser, given to her by the boys of Serenity ranch. Princess, given to her by Jay.

- During early 2551, Serra used her connects to look for Rayne Cobb; she had heard rumors of Rayne Cobb being on Sihnon. She was met by a man, who said he had no name, and she gave him all the information she had. Some time later, Rayne was returned home.

- Serra has no sorrys for who she is. Yes, she left her family and friends to be a Companion and yes she would do it again. She lived on a planet under Alliance rule and she loved it. She loves her life as a Companion. Though, she left the Companion House for a certain reason that she refuses to talk about.

- Had her first kiss, with another Companion student when she was thirteen. It was not at all romantic and was pretty boring.

-Had her first sexual encounter, at nineteen. It was with a chosen male, whom the Guild saw fit. She lost her virginity to him exactly two days before she took on her first client.

- Thinks her brother’s little love for Rayne Cobb is totally awful.

- Loves: Her family. Being a Companion. The fact that Jay will never not want to kiss her. The way she bettered herself. The way men (and women) look at her. The smell of Kaylee Tam’s cooking. The way Lee Washburne and Rex Washburne are so much better then her, but they don’t know it. Wash’s jokes. Rayne’s smile. Derri’s laugh.

- Hates: That she thinks she’s so much better then everyone else. The sound of gun shots. Reavers. The way Mal hates what she’s chosen for her career.

-Worst Memory: The year was 2543, Serra was beaten by a client; she left the room bloody and limping- the client did not leave the room.

- Earliest Memory: Being chased with Derri, Matt, and Jay. The four of them were being chased by Lee and Rex. They were all playing and having fun.

- Fondest Memory: The day she became a licensed Companion.

- Ten things Serra Reynolds doesn't like about Matt Cobb:

He acts embarrassed about the way he has bettered himself.
He hates the Core. The Core is the most wonderful place.
He won’t get his brother, Jay, to stop asking her for a kiss.
He wears the stupidest vests.
He once pulled her hair and she hasn’t forgotten.
He can’t say no to Derri.
He and Jay act as if Derri would be the perfect wife. Serra believes she is prettier and much better then Derri.
He always smells like a hospital.
He thinks he’s so gorram smart, and even if he is, he’s an idiot in a lot of other ways.
He went to the Core, became a doctor, went back home and helped out people like their parents. That makes him a better person then she is. She kind of hates him for that.

- Ten things Serra Reynolds does like about Matt Cobb:

1. He’s a doctor. He helps and saves people and that’s noble. Hell, because of him her sister is still alive.
2. He’s so stuffy and gets all nervous when a pretty girl flirts with him. Now, that is endearing.
3. His hair. He has brilliant hair.
4. He reads out loud after meals.
5. He looks after Derri. That girl would get into so much trouble if it weren’t for Matt.
6. He takes care of his sister and he tries so hard to make her comfortable and well.
7. His stupid vests.
8. His smile is so lovely.
9. He’s saved all their lives and he never asks for praise.
10. He went to the Core, became a doctor, went back home and helped out people like their parents. That makes him a better person then she is.

Derri Faith Reynolds

-Is so religious because of the way she was born. Christmas Eve, middle of a snow storm, in a broken shuttle, with only Book to help her mother. Derri believes that God made sure she was born, because she has great things ahead of her.

-Has been preaching in the nearby towns of Serenity Ranch for years. When she and the others left on Serenity she began using her calling to distract others, while her sibling and friends stole. She doesn’t seem to mind, though.

- Has her own moral compass, which she follows. It doesn’t really have to do with religion. It has to do with what she thinks is right.

- Jay Cobb is her best friend, simply because he’s always been there for her. She thinks he is a wonderful person.

-Childhood Nicknames: Der, which is what the boys called her. Shepard, which is what the people she would preach to called her, she started preaching when she was nineteen.

- She’s sick and she’s not up for talking about it. It’s just something that she has, it doesn’t make her who she is.

-Loves to tease Jay about the fact that he can’t swim.

- Had her first kiss, with Tommy Logan. God, it was awful. He was sloppy and all hands. She was sixteen and she ended up hitting him and telling him that he needed to learn to kiss.

-Had her first sexual encounter, well, actually she’s never had sex.

-Wishes Mal wasn’t so awful about the path she chose. It’s her life.

- Loves: Derri pretty much loves everyone and everything. She finds beauty in the world and in the people who live there. She’s a bit of a hippie in that way. Relaxed and chilled is her way.

- Hates: Well, the Alliance. She’s not overly fond of Reavers, though she might be more scared then anything else. The way her brother and father mock her and her religion. Can she help it if 90% of the ‘verse is Buddhist?

-Worst Memory: 2538, December first. It was the day she first became ill. She was nine years old and was with Jay at the time. She couldn’t breathe and he ended up carrying her and funning the nearly five miles back to Serenity Ranch.

- Earliest Memory: Asking Book for a bible. She is roughly six years old and it is her clearest memory. Wanting a bible from her favorite person.

- Fondest Memory: The day Rayne returned to Serenity Ranch. It was the best day ever.

- Ten things Derri Reynolds doesn't like about Serra Reynolds:

Serra mocks her.
Serra won’t give Jay that stupid kiss to just shut him up.
She complains when Derri beats her at Chinese-checkers.
She thinks low of herself and has very little self-esteem. Serra actually thinks men would prefer Derri over her!
That awful perfume.
Serra puts on airs. She’s not some grand lady, she’s just Serra.
She seemly doesn’t own anything not made of silk.
That sad little smile that Serra smiles. Derri wants her sister to be happy and she’s clearly not.
Why won’t she give Jay that stupid kiss?! Maybe then, he’d quit bothering Derri when she’s trying to read.
Serra won’t tell Derri why she left Sihnon.

- Ten things Derri Reynolds does like about Serra Reynolds:

She risked everything to look for information on the missing Rayne Cobb.
She’s so sweet, but in little ways that aren’t all that noticeable.
She’s brilliant at other games, even if she is awful at Chinese-checkers.
Maybe she does have a reason for not kissing Jay. Maybe she just doesn’t want things to get awkward.
She never looks down on anyone, just because she’s a Companion. In fact, there are times when she seems nearly embarrassed.
She thinks Matt’s vests are stupid too.
Serra holds Derri’s hand, when Derri is sick.
She’s so good and kind to Rayne, even if she’s uncomfortable with it all.
She knows how to put Shadow in his place and no one knows how to do that.
She’s Serra Reynolds and she’s strong and beautiful and maybe one of the best people in the ‘verse.

Shadow Alexander Reynolds

-Is a better shot then anyone he knows. Well, Jay may be better.

-Has a fondness for roses and kept his room on Serenity Ranch filled with them for the two years that Rayne was missing. It was because she told him to think of her when he saw roses.

- Was once caught…actually was twice caught masturbating by his mother. It was just his worst days ever.

-Was given the papers for Serenity when he was nine years old. Mal told his only son: “One day, you’re gonna wantta find some sky. Serenity brought me a purpose, a family, an’ peace. Maybe she’ll give you what you’ll need.”

-Childhood Nicknames: Reynolds, not so much a nickname as something the Cobb boys tend to call him when he makes them mad. Planet Boy, he lived on the planet he was named after. Kids can be cruel.

-Is secretly jealous of how close Rayne is with Rex. Ok, he’s not secretly jealous. He is jealous. He’s really jealous of that stupid Reaver, too. Sure, the Reaver’s not around…but Shadow knows Rayne likes the thing. Shadow is just a jealous guy.

-Kind of gets the feeling that his father loves him more then he does Serra and Derri.

-Had his first kiss, at the age of fourteen. It was with a girl from his school, though he forgets her name. It kind of…may have…started with a ‘F’. Fanny? Fern? Fleur?

-Had his first sexual encounter, at the age of sixteen. That darn Jayne Cobb took him to a whore. Now her name he remembers…Cassie or was it Coral or maybe Clare…

-From the ages of fourteen-seventeen, he was known as a bit of a playboy or maybe a manwhore. Shadow had many girlfriends and girls all over him. Some would walk the three hours to the ranch just to see him. But, he stopped his ways once he reached seventeen, due to his crush on Rayne. And after she disappeared, well, he just couldn’t move on.

- Loves: His family, blood and otherwise. Serenity, the ranch and the ship. The fact that he owns the ship called Serenity. The way Rayne lets him sleep beside her, even though nothing will happen. The way he can always find Derri reading in the med-lab, as Matt goes over supplies. The way Jay cleans his guns on the floor, despite having a table. The way Serra and Lee laugh with one another when they cook meals. His mother’s rose garden. The way Derri laughs. Rex and his dino love. The way Rayne smiles at him and calls him the soul to her body.

- Hates: Alliance. What was done to River and Rayne. Reavers. The fact that Rayne cares for a Reaver. The way Jay and Matt get so protective of Rayne. Reavers. Derri’s sick and she’s not sharing. Serra’s got secrets and she’s not sharing. Secrets, in general. The way he can’t bring himself to be with Rayne, when she has an ‘episode’.

-Worst Memory: He supposes it is a tie between when Rayne disappeared and when Derri first got sick. Both were awful days.

- Earliest Memory: Watching Book fall in the cargo bay of Serenity. One minute the preacher had been explaining the rules of some game to Shadow, Derri, and Matt and the next he had fallen to the ground. He died shortly after and Rayne was born moments after that.

- Fondest Memory: The day Mal gave him the papers for Serenity. It was one of the best days ever.

- Ten things Shadow Reynolds doesn't like about Rayne Cobb:

As much as he wants her to be, she’s not the fourteen year old girl that was kidnapped and she never will be that girl again.
She knew, she had to have known she was going to be taken and she didn’t try and stop it from happening.
She loves that gorram Reaver. It’s a Reaver and every time it shows up, she calls it ‘Angel’ and says its her friend.
She hides in places and then he has to go and find her.
He’s fairly certain that she knows what he’s thinking. He doesn’t like that idea.
She seems to find it amusing when he gets jealous.
She doesn’t seem to mind what has been done to her.
Sometimes she forgets who people are. Though, he really can’t blame her.
She thinks he’s just obsessed with the girl she used to be and she doesn’t always see that he loves the her of now.
She might just end up hurting him and they both know it.

- Ten things Shadow Reynolds does like about Rayne Cobb:

When she smiles at him, he knows that she remembers him.
The way she steals Rex’s dinos and hides them or buries them, just because they ‘mock’ her. Whatever that means.
She’s truly peaceful when they sleep next to one another.
She’s got a way of breaking tension, even if it is by saying something strange.
The way she dances.
The way she tries so hard to remember everything.
The way she calls Rex ‘Hoban’. It makes Rex blushes and anything that makes the king of coolness blush is good.
She loves him, even if she can’t quit say it. She proves it in her actions.
The way she looks at him, like he’s the love of her life.
She’d never ever leave him, would she?
