Fanmix: 'A Thin Line'

I have no idea how or where to go to make covers for a fanmix, so you can make your own if you'd like.

 

I call this one the ‘A Thin Line’ mix, just because there’s always a thin line between love and hate, teasing and being cruel, etc. This is a mix for Jayne Cobb and River Tam and I think it tells a bit of a story. Oh, plus you get four bonus tracks! (note: for some odd reason, there is no track 4)

 

Track 1:

Lolita by Suzanne Vega: This one is a POV of all the other crew members as they watch River trying to get Jayne to notice her.

So hungry
For the one understanding
Looking for a token of
Blood or tenderness

Track 2:

Dangerous by Ghost of a Robot: I saw this used for a Rayne video and since then, it’s been one of my Rayne tracks. It’s a Jayne POV about River.

I don't think you know my name
And I think you'd leave me standin in the rain
You're a pretty little girl got a thing for me
But you'd cut me open and let me bleed

Track 3:

100 Blouses by Low Millions: Another Jayne POV. This time, Jayne thinks about River and what he’s doing to try and get over her. (angst!)

So dizzy I can't close my eyes, so love sick I wanna be with you tonight, so desperate I think I'll hit the bars, so tired of not having you in my arms.

I'll take a friend of yours out to dinner, Then I'll take off all her clothes and look for you in her, 100 blouses come undone, I look for you in everyone, I touch so much that I go numb, I look for you in everyone.

Track 5:

Just the Girl by The Click Five: A fun song about River teasing Jayne and the back and forth of their relationship. This is also a Jayne POV.

Cause she's bittersweet
She knocks me off of my feet
And I can't help myself
I don't want anyone else

Track 6:

Just a Little Girl by Amy Stuart: A River POV, in which River tries to explain to Jayne (and the crew) that she’s not just the little broken girl they all think she is.

Sometimes I feel you’re not listening
Sometimes I feel you don’t understand
But I think I’ve got the answer
Already know what you’re gonna say

‘Cause I’m just a little girl you see
But there’s a hell of a lot more to me

 

Track 7:

Extraordinary Girl by Green Day: The crew’s POV of River and Jayne.

She's all alone again
Wiping the tears from her eyes
Some days he feels like dying
She gets so sick of crying

 

Track 8:

She by Green Day: A Jayne POV on River as she tries to live day to day on Serenity.

She...
She screams in silence
A sullen riot penetrating through her mind
Waiting for a sign
To smash the silence with the brick of self-control

Track 9:

Annie By Our Lady Peace: Another Jayne POV. Jayne deals with ‘crazy’ River as he tries to start a real relationship with her.

You're a little bit shy
A little too quiet
You're the mixed up girl
That everybody leaves behind

Track 10:

Here She Comes by Low Millions: River and Jayne are in a real relationship now. This song is just about the freshness and beginning stage of that. Jayne POV

I can taste you on my tongue, I can still feel what my hands have done, I got you on my mind, more than anything or anyone.
And what we have is a connection, we got front row seats to each others affection, you're such a thirsty rose, I can still see you when my eyes are closed.

Track 11:

Firefly by Saves the Day: A fun song I first heard in a Rayne video. River and Jayne, their dating, and the interesting things that go along with it. Jayne POV.

To me you are the light from a light bulb that breaks sometimes
and the tender warmth inside is released into my life
and it smothers me in flames that lick and scorch my face.

 

 

Track 12:

Everything Will Be Alright by The Killers: Jayne never wanted to be with River and he does have to save her a lot. But, she saves him too. So, it’s all worth it. Jayne POV

I believe in you and me
I'm coming to find you
If it takes me all night
Wrong until you make it right

She’s a Rebel by Green Day: This song screams post-Firefly, Serenity!River to me. It could be a Jayne POV or a Simon POV or a Mal POV or even a whole crew POV.

Track 14:

Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi: I saw this song in a general Serenity mix and it was used as Jayne’s song. I think it fits him and it’s a nice pre-Firefly!Jayne song. Could be a before leaving home thing or even a working across the ‘verse as a mercenary number.

I walk these streets, a loaded six string on my back
I play for keeps, 'cause I might not make it back
I been everywhere, and I'm standing tall
I've seen a million faces an I've rocked them all

Track 15:

Come to Jesus by Mindy Smith: I saw this in a Mal video and it was about Mal and his time on Serenity. However, I think it could fit any or rather all of the crew and Serenity. Could even be a Rayne song or even a song for any of the couples.

Never hide your face from me
I've conquered hell and driven out the demons
I have come with a life to set you free

Track 16:

Hallelujah by Allison Crowe: There are tons of versions of this song, but this one just sounds so beautiful. I think it could be a song for the whole crew or the couple of your choice. To me, it makes a great crew song. However, there are certain lyrics that scream Rayne to me. (note: someone please make a video with this song using clips from the show and film, this song would work so well with it.)

Always love your mixes & of course anything w/Bon Jovi kicks a$$ :) Pretty much the whole album that this songs comes from reminds me of Rayne.

My icon was taken from the user mouthfullofdust and I think she got it from a piece down in a magazine last summer. I'm sure if you get in touch with her, she'll be able to deal you were she got the picture.
