You've Fallen For Me Just Got More Interesting

You've Fallen For Me aka Festival aka Heartstrings, the romantic musical drama (also called a "youth melodrama") that airs this June, just got more interesting. It's about a girl (played by Park Shin Hye) whose from a prestigious family - majoring in traditional Korean instruments at a local music university. She goes to a concert and falls for a cold rocker (Jung Yong Hwa), whose only interested in music. As it turns out, the two go to the same school. Lee Kyu Won falls for Lee Shin at first sight, but he's already in love with one of the instructors at the university, a dance instructor called Jung Yoon Soo.


I've been a bit wishy-washy on this drama, because he basically played himself in You're Beautiful; and PSH can bring it with drama, but goes into the "overly cute/trying to hard" side of things when she does straight-comedy. That said, I think this drama just went up on my 'Want to Check Out' list because the secondary female lead has been casted - and its So Yi Hyun (Gloria, Swallow the Sun, Resurrection, etc) - whom I'm very fond of. I first saw her in Gloria, and really loved her there. So, I went back and checked out her earlier stuff. She's an actress that I think deserves more roles. Plus, Song Chang Ui (Life is Beautiful, Golden Bride, etc) will be the second male lead, a drama producer, whose found success on Broadway.


Jung Yong Hwa's character will have a crush on So Yi Hyun's professor. Park Shin Hye's character will have a crush on Jung Yong Hwa's character. I'm really hoping the writer lets SYH's character and SCU's character have a romance, whole the two kiddies have their romance. Because, I don't want to see two grown people (a 27 year old woman and a 32 year old man) in serious love triangles with their students.


So - loving the secondary leads because I know they are a great actor/actress. Little worried about the "youth melodrama" tag and a bit worried that PSH and JYH can lead a drama like this one.

I totally in sync with you.. I'm actually watching this new show for So Yi Hyun. I really really adore her in Gloria and I think she's a fine actress. Hope she got more recognition

I think SYH is terribly underrated. I'm hoping she gets more roles - she was wonderful as fragile yet strong Ballerina, YS. I just hope she isn't stuck in a silly love triangle with the younger cast.

I know. I've watched Swallow the sun first and got attracted to her charisma there. But what really made me impressed was her role in Gloria. So subtle yet so powerful. I also hope she won't get stuck with young love generation and plus we know the end game of Yong Hwa is with the female lead. I'm hoping she could end up with the second guy.

I've only seen some of Swallow the Sun - how was her character in that? I agree about her in Gloria - powerful and subtle. I agree - her character should have a thing with the older movie guy.

Her character is a strong businesslike woman since she's the daughter of one of the casino owner in Jeju Island. There's a lot of potential with her character unfortunately they don't develop it more. Though it's interesting to see difference between her character in Gloria & Swallow The Sun.
DId you watch any of her other show?
I'm pretty excited with the new show although she's the second lead. Seems like it's gonna be pretty interesting. I'm just gonna wait for the time when she's gonna be first lead cause she pretty much deserve it

I've seen some episodes of Swallow the Sun, and didn't think they'd develop her character much. I've noticed that she takes on all sorts of different characters; but, she usually only gets leading roles in shorter dramas and cable dramas. I've seen bits and pieces of other shows she's been in, but. . .Gloria was the first thing of hers that I watched all the way through. I went and back and looked at some of her older projects after that.

I hope she gets a lead role sometime soon.

Yea you're actually right.. Towards the end of the drama they did give some weight to her character but still.. it's far from what i've expected cause there's a potential to it. I think the only drama i've watched her is only gloria & Swallow the Sun.. I've seen some good review for her long drama Aeja Older Sister.. but it's like 100 over episodes.. I'm still contemplating whether to watch it or not.

Any other series recommendation of her work? Though I will be checking out her new drama with CNBlue Yong Hwa

I've seen her in Gloria, Swallow the Sun, and Assorted Gems. I would not rec Assorted Gems, it starts off alright, but the writer just makes a mess of things toward the end.

I didn't like what they did to the characters and romances toward the end of that drama. Characters changed completely and romances were all but forgotten. Terrible drama, Assorted Gems.


I've never seen Resurrection, but I hear her character is very likeable in it. I wish she got more roles, too. It's a shame she's not that popular.

Oh no that's bad. I shouldn't check it out then. Will just be wasting my time.
But I saw news that she got more popular/recognition in Assorted Gems.Unfortunately the writing didn't support it then.

Ah. I might check out Resurrection and Before and After Plastic Surgery. I found download link for that. Before and After Plastic Surgery is only 12 episodes.

The interesting thing about this actress is she's not that popular but she's really likeable. Like I can't really find people that hate her.

I think, from interviews, she comes across as very sweet and likeable. Maybe because she isn't super famous, so she knows she has to stay on the public's good side. That's why she makes sure not to show any major vices.

I've seen bits of Before and After, it really is another side to her.

Ah yes you might be right. There's not much of her interview in Youtube too I realise. I just saw few from her fans meeting after Assorted Gems.

I"m just downloading Before and After, gonna check out the few first episode, before deciding whether to watch all of them or not.

Btw I've seen a photoshoot for Heartstring drama poster, we might be right.. that she might end up with the music director hopefully because the photo is she's sitting down and @ her side is the music director while Yong Hwa is standing next to the main girl

I saw a couple of episodes of Before and After, she was good in it. But, I never finished - got side tracked.

I hope its her and the music director. I don't want her fighting for the love of one of her students.

Ah. I've just watched first episode. Its a quirky kind of episode.

With this good trait with Heartstrings. I also don't want her to be involved with students. From the description there's quite a depth potential with her character. Hopefully they can utilise it.

I think as long as she didn't fight for the love of their student is fine with me and I guess from the character look she's an intelligent.. I wanna see some angst in it though since the description is she couldn't be dancer because of some injury.. I also heard this is Dream High 2.0.. Have u watched Dream High before?

I watched and really enjoyed Dream High. Especially the two in my icon. I'll be sure to post about this new show when it airs. I'm interested to see where they take the story.

Yup I'm watching Dream High currently after finishing Gloria.. so far so good and interesting. I hope Heartstrings is gonna live up to its expectation hopefully something interesting too for the teacher story. They didn't elaborate more about the teacher in Dream high but I guess cause the main is 5 young people

Yup, I think Dream High is more about the teenagers becoming adults and finding what they truly want and/or need. The stories about the teachers were secondary. Maybe if it had been a longer show, they could have done more with those storylines.

True.. I wonder whether Heartstrings will have more than 16 episodes... though shorter drama means more compact & normally the storyline is also better cause they don't need to expand it in order to fit in with the length of the series

I think 16 episodes for a purely romantic drama is fine, otherwise things start to drag.

Yes you're right.. 16 is the right amount of episode. I heard Heartstring is not categorized as romantic comedy instead as a melodrama. I wonder what is it about...
