20th Century Boys 3: a question

walkwithheroesI just finished watching the trilogy and I have a small question about the cop character, Chono, played by Naohito Fujiki.
We see him arrest (or say he'll arrest) the man that killed his father about an hour and a half into the film. And, as far as I could tell, we never see that character again. What happened to him? Was he killed by Friend's people, the guy? Did he show at the park? Did I miss something
This is really bugging me, so any help would help me sleep better tonight, or rather tomorrow.
