…I had no idea. (I've been published!)
Mar. 10th, 2009 08:47 pmI have just found out that I'm being published in my college's new literary magazine. A poem and a play are being published in their first issue. The play even won an Editor's Choice award; which means I'll get a prize of some sort. Despite the fact that I was published, my first thoughts were: "I'm putting that bit of information on my resume and transcripts in the future." and "Doesn't Editor's Choice win money?"
That is, admittedly, horrible of me to think. Mostly because when I entered my pieces three months ago, I just wanted to be published. But, times are tough, people. And, I've recently learned that the grad program I want to get into only lets in 100-150 people a year. So, even the tiniest thing helps.
Anyway. . . I'm being published and that is fairly cool. I'll post both pieces here, once the magazine is published. (I signed a release statement saying I wouldn't publish/post the poem and play anywhere until the magazine is published.)
I think the best bit is, I've had such a horrible month and this semester has just been utter crap, so this news makes me a bit happier.
