Actors and Actresses You Want to See Work Together - For the First Time Or Again

Lately I've been thinking about the fact that the Asian Entertainment Industry seems to be relatively small. Or maybe its more that there are only a hand full of truly popular actors and actresses at any given time. Or, to be more correct, people tend to have their moments in the sun, and that means they work with the same people over and over again. Now, granted there are some actors and actresses that have made their living playing the 'Oh, it's him/her!' roles in dramas, specials, and films. And, there are the famous "Love Teams" in Taiwanese dramas - think Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng or Rainie Yang and Mike He.

All of this got me to thinking about the fact that many actors and actresses have worked with each other a few times throughout their careers and there are actors and actresses I'm dying to see work together. I thought I'd make a list and ask you guys who'd you'd love to see work together, either for the first time or the second or third or whatever. Because, with things the way they are in Asian Entertainment, your wish just might come true!

Korean:

Sung Yu Ri and Jo In Sung - A few years back they did some CMs and print ads for a clothing company. I watched their interviews and they were adorable together; discussing their wants to get married before they turn 30 and the fact that they went to school together (but didn't know each other, only of each other) at one point. They also had lovely chemistry in the ads. Plus - he got out of the army a few days ago! I'd love to see them in a drama together.

Ko Kyun Jung and Jang Hyuk - They've never worked together, and that honestly surprises me. Ko Kyun Jung is one of the best actresses in Korea and Jang Hyuk never disappoints. I could see them having amazing chemistry. Plus, they are both grown ups, so I think they'd be very powerful in their roles.

Ko Kyun Jung and Moon Geun Young - Not romantically, but both ladies are two of the best actresses in their generations. Both are serious about their work, as well. They also have a similar look. I'd love for them to play mother and daughter; they are about seventeen years apart.

Moon Geun Young and Jang Geun Suk - Mary had its problems, but the first few episodes were fun and the chemistry between the "Geun-Geun" couple was there. As I understand it, they are also very similar in real life in terms of their likes and dislikes. So, I'd love for them to do a film together. Something sort and sweet.

Japanese:

Kimura Takuya and Takeuchi Yuko - They were in Pride together, the last romantic drama Kimura has done. And, they were awesome together. There was something very sweet about the pairing and I'd love to see it again.

Mimura and Matsuyama Kenichi - I wrong shipped them throughout Zeni Geba. They have great chemistry and I could see them doing something with a 'love-hate' relationship.

Chinese/Taiwanese:

Wallace Huo and Liu Shi Shi - Simply because I am loving them in their current drama. But, I fear they won't totally get together in it.

Though, I think there could be more if I really stopped and thought about it, that's my list. I'd love to know whose on everyone else's list.

Just off the the top of my head:

Japan
Toda Erika and Nagase Tomoya - If only for the fact that I watched the Unubore Deka episode with her in it and totally resented the fact that they nearly kissed and didn't (also the fact that the ep totally wasted her).
Nagase Tomoya and Nakama Yukie - Because I watched IWGP and the beginning of My Boss, My Hero at the same time as Gokusen and might have shipped Yankumi with either of his characters and written mental fanfic with them as a high school or vacation fling. (Before I edited that sentence for clarity it sounded like I shipped them as a threesome or love triangle and now thinking about it, I'm writing mental fanfic again)
Nakama Yukie and Abe Hiroshi - I remember them as having really great chemistry in Trick.

Korea
Lee Seung Gi and Shin Min Ah - They were super adorable in Gumiho together and all the little fantasy sequences they had made me want to see them do other types of shows together.
Lee Seung Gi and Yoon Eun Hye - Since they were really cute in this commercial together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xA0BPfOR-JE (this is the behind the scenes version which has extra cuteness.

Yoon Eun Hye and Hyun Bin - For the Basic House photo shoots where they are dorky and hot together, making me imagine them having zany adventures together as a crime solving duo. There are a ton of pics and videos floating around (I wish I could find the one I first saw) but this one illustrates my point nicely - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHZ7lFMGwkQ
Also, Yoon Eun Hye and Kim Hyun-joong in their Basic House ads which I found on Dramabeans when I was trying to find where I saw the above one. I think I just really love Yoon Eun Hye, and maybe Basic House youtube videos, which are crack and also brought me the joy of Won Bin & Moon Guen Young.

I think I should stop now, this turned into an obnoxiously long comment and I could do this all day.

I think Nagase Tomoya could be paired with many so women in dramas and films. He seems to have chemistry with everyone. The same can be said for Yoon Eun Hye - I never think she'll have chemistry with her co-stars, but she always does. I'd like to see Lee Seung Gi and Shin Min Ah do a romantic film together.

Hah, Shin Min Ah and like every male actor there is. Actually Shin Min Ah and Rain. I thought they had so much chemistry in A Love To Kill that I'd love to see them in a lighter drama.

Or Shin Min Ah and Won Bin. Their CF's are so cute together, I'd love to see them in an epic drama.

Eita and Ueno Juri in a GOOD drama. I had such high hopes for their pairing in Sunao ni Narenakute but it didn't deliver. I love their chemistry together.

Ueno Juri and Abe Hiroshi!

lol. Shin Min Ah always has great chemistry with her co-stars, so I'm with you about putting her in more projects. I loved to see her and Rain do another drama together. Maybe a romantic comedy?

Eita and Ueno Juri keep working together, but they are either not paired together or the writer just doesn't get it right. They have great chemistry, though.

For Japanese I just want to see Suzuka with someone awesome and not as a backseat character a la that Samurai drama w/ Miura Haruma. I'd say MatsuKen but he's married now so it'd feel weird to ship them (notice the issue isn't about their ages harharhar).

Taiwanese Wu Zun and Ella because I loved the Taiwanese Hana-Kimi and for Korean... Moon Geun Young and Im Soo Jung as sisters again, maybe? Moon Geun Young and the girl from Playful Kiss (I forgot her name orz) as kickass girls in a drama. Idek. XD

Suzuka turns 18 this year - that's legal in most countries. I would love for her and MatsuKen to work together again. They've worked together twice and each time have played well off each other. I'd love for them to do another project together. (Yes, she was wasted in the Samurai drama - I think she's been wasted in her last few projects, but that may be because she was finishing high school.)

Moon Geun Young and Im Soo Jung were wonderful as sisters. I'd love for them to do another film together, I think.

That's true! But if she should work with anyone that is as awesome as she is /dead. I actually haven't seen Kamui Gaiden because I'm not too fond of historic movies and such - how were they in that? (She was! Although I must be fail because when it comes to dramas, that's her only latest one, right?)

A Tale of Two Sisters continues to be one of my favorite Korean movies ever, and ultimately my favorite horror/suspense movie. ♥ I remember before I'd watched it, my stepsister told me that when she watched it, she said that I looked like the 'evil' sister, and when I watched it with my cousins, they said that my older sister looked like the younger one. :'D

[identity profile] walkwithheroes.livejournal.com 2011-05-11 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I skimmed Kamui Gaiden - they were both very good in that. Their relationship was very sweet. (That was her last drama. She did nothing in 2010, most likely because she was busy with school. And, she has one movie coming up in 2011.)

A Tale of Two Sisters is also one of my favorite films!

[identity profile] boycottbananas.livejournal.com 2011-05-11 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll have to try to watch their parts. :'D (Yeah, she'll be a third year now, I think? She's my favorite actress, I should know more orz. Is the upcoming movie the omnibus one? Or is it one I totally missed?)

Isn't it amazing? sdjfhs

She'll be 18 in August, so I'm guessing she'll have graduated high school. Her last project is called Kamifusen and came out in March. I think she has a tv movie coming out soon.

It is a great film. The American remake was a disaster, but the Korean film was perfect.

[identity profile] boycottbananas.livejournal.com 2011-05-11 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
... That's true! Man I really am fail. XD Idk if I've heard about Kamifusen but I'll look it all up anyway. Do you follow her blog? Obviously I don't read Japanese but her pictures are always so cute. :'3

I didn't even bother with the remake. Hollywood always botches up Asian movies when they try to remake them. Chris Colombus signed the rights to remake Hello Ghost which stars Cha Tae-Hyun and I about died. Noooooooo.

[identity profile] walkwithheroes.livejournal.com 2011-05-11 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I don't follow her blog. I don't follow any celeb blogs, because I just don't have the time and most rarely update.

I hate Hollywood remakes of Asian films. So not looking forward to the Hello Ghost remake.

It's interesting that you asked about which two stars we think should work together for the first time, especially in conjunction with the power couples Ariel/Joe and Rainie/Mike, because Joe and Rainie are going to be the lead couple in a new drama. I found this highly intriguing, because it's breaking off the two into one. I'm a little apprehensive about it..but we'll see.

Another thoughtful question. I'll have to ponder it :)

[identity profile] walkwithheroes.livejournal.com 2011-05-12 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure the Ariel/Joe fans and Rainie/Mike fans will have a lot to say on the subject of Rainie and Joe working together. Personally, I'm indifferent to it all. I like pairings, but I'm not a RL 'shipper.

I'm still pondering the question myself. The more I think about it, the more people I want to see work together - for the first time or again.
