Serenity Spoiler-Strange thoughts....

Is it just me or does this photo:






suggest that Joss always had it in mind for River to one day become the pilot of Serenity? Both Joss and Alan have said that they've always seen Wash as the good sympathetic kill. Alan has even said he only thought that Wash would be around for one or two seasons. If 'Firefly' had lasted, maybe it was planned for River to become the pilot in season three?

Well, here's another thing:

Jayne got shot in the same leg--IN THE SAME spot--by the Reavers in the BDM as he did by the stray bullet in "The Train Job".

And...Simon mentions sooooo casually being a "criminal mastermind" and reeeeeeaaaaaallllly comes up with that plan for "Ariel" too easily (IMHO). After seeing BDM, his naughtiness seem more plausible.

That's definitely an interesting thing to ponder about. Joss probably intended something along those lines, of River being pilot in the second or third season. Or, if the series had lasted to a second season perhaps she would be co-piloting with Wash!

Still, intended or not, that's brilliant foreshadowing nonetheless. :)

It it was foreshadowing, it was so crafty and brilliant. I think River could have ben a co-pilot or maybe even started to fly the shuttles for jobs.
