And as much as I like the whole Shadow/Rayne pairing, it kind of feels like she's getting railroaded into it, like it's expected that she'll end up with him (well at lease to me it does).
Well, the only other guys around are her brothers and her cousin's husband, so Rayne doesn't have a lot of choices. But, before she was taken she did have a bit of a crush on Shadow and he on her.
And I have to say, the man does appear to be living in the past.
Oh, Shadow is totally still pining over the fourteen year old 'Rayne Drops' that this Rayne used to be. Like she told him in 'Soul', she's not the girl he knew. Like he told her, he doesn't care, at the end of the day he just wants her.
It's one of those things where Shadow is most likely the only person who has no problem with Rayne being the way she is now. He doesn't think she's strange or crazy and he doesn't want to make her better or know what happened. Shadow is just fine and dandy having this Rayne and having her love him. But yes, Shadow does love Rayne more then she loves him.
Bascially, (and I'm the writer) Rayne really shouldn't even be in a romance, but she can't seem to stop herself. It's comfortable and nice to have a handsome guy say he loves you and want to protect you. Plus, Shadow makes Rayne remember what is was like to be a girl.
Could you write a more in depth look at Rayne and Shadow's current relationship so that we can see all the wonderful reasons for her being in love with him.
Mmm, I'll see what I can come up with. I know I'd love to do something to explain how Rayne got to asking Rex if she is in love with Shadow to letting him kiss her. And I would like to write some fluff with them. Maybe something nice and sweet to show that:
Shadow isn't just in love with a girl from the past. Rayne isn't just with Shadow because there's no one else. There is more then just a pining/protective thing going on in Shadow's head and more then just a want to make him happy/well, no one else is here thing going on in Rayne's mind.
At the end of the day, Rayne shouldn't be with Shadow or Angel. At the end of the day, both of them are in love with her for their own reasons. At the end of the day, Rayne (and me) know who she will end up with.
