Pimp Post: Community
Community is one of the best and most underrated shows on American television. It airs on NBC against The Big Bang Theory, so it's ratings are between 2-3.5 million an episode. Though, I can tell you that many more people are watching and loving Community.
It's a brilliant show with meta and OTPs and amazing story lines and characters. They've gone a war parody episode, a western parody, a spy parody, etc - and they have taken each one seriously, while poking fun at it all. I will admit that the show took a while (8 -10 episodes) to find its footing, but once it does - wow. For new viewers, I say start at episode 1.09 and work your way up, then watch the first eight episodes later. You'll thank me.
Let's start with the study group.
There's Jeff: a lawyer, whose been forced back to school because his law degree is from Columbia, the country.
Britta: an activist, who thinks she's really helping. . .but sometimes you got to wonder if she's not just following trends. Still: she's awesome.
Peirce: a millionaire, who only goes to Greendale Community College because he's bored and lonely. He's sort of sexist and racist, but it's more out of not knowing than anything else.
Shirley: a single mom going back to school to get a business degree. She wants to start her own bakery. She comes off a s a sweet mother figure, but don't cross her. . .
Troy: in high school he was the Prom King and a football star. Now, he's letting his inner geek out and sharing an amazing bromance with. . .
Abed: a filmmaker, who'd rather live in movies and television than in the real world. The only sane person in the group.
Annie: a high school overachiever. She had a huge crush on Troy in high school, but that quickly ended once they got to Greendale - and they got to know each other. In high school she developed an addiction, and has been clean for three years or so. She's still an over achiever, though.
Together, they get into all kinds of weird events and situation. They may fight, but in the end - they are a family. And they all have amazing chemistry!
