Updates on What I'm Watching

I had planned to watch more shows than I'm actually watching; however, this season has been so good and filled with such brilliance that I had to cut some out. And, I'm still behind! I just thought I'd discuss what I'm watching and why I'm watching it.

Korea:

Myung Wol the Spy (8 episodes aired/8 watched) - This is a romantic comedy that is just. . .it makes very little sense when you look at it with objective eyes. So, forget that. Just focus on the insane chemistry between the leads. I love watching this show because it is wacky and fun and even a little bit sexy.

Japanese:

Ouran High School Host Club (3 episodes aired/watched 2) - I was so wary of this show, because I'm such a huge fan of the original manga and even the anime. But, this show. . .it is just so like the manga/anime. The actors are the characters come to live. And, I want make outs!

IS (3 episodes aired/watched 3) - I wasn't planning on watching this, but I decided that I should give it a chance. It's such an intriguing and human show. It's a high school human drama done right. I love watching the main character, Haru, deal with being an intersexual. He feels male, he was raised as a male. . .but his body is turning more and more feminine. So heartbreaking. And, so good.

Ikemen Desu Ne (4 episodes aired/1 watched) - The remake of You're Beautiful is actually more realistic and in some ways enjoyable than the original. I've only watched one episode, because of time, but I'm looking forward to the rest.

Don Quixote (4 episodes aired/2 watched) - This show is so weird and yet so cool. I can't even talk about it. It's just weird and cool.

Arakawa Under the Bridge (2 episodes aired/1 watched)- This show is based on a manga. A weird and unusual manga. All the characters are possibility mentally ill. Yet, it has a sweet and lovely and pure little love story forming. It's all about being yourself and doing what makes you happy, man. I love it.

Soredemo, Ikite Yuku (5 episodes aired/2 watched) - Human drama at its finest. And it doesn't hurt that the show is beautifully shot. Or that the cast is excellent in their roles. I did a post about it where I gushed, and I think my thoughts on it still stand. One of the best, if not the best, of the season.

China:/Taiwan

Strange Hero Yi Zhi Mei (13 episodes subbed/11 watched) - Yes, I'm still watching. It's one of the best wuxia dramas in the world. If you aren't watching it - watch it!

Hayate the Combat Butler (6 aired/5 watched) - A fun rom-com that's like a manga come to live!

I know there are more dramas I should be watching (The Princess' Man; the new Hana Kimi; etc), but I'm so full of dramas that they may have to wait.
